kite
Had MOT yesterday and got an advisary, N/S headlamp aim slightly out. Question is, how do I adjust, is it through VAG COM or a manual adjustment on the unit somewhere !
Tobes49
Slightly out to what? High,Low,left or right? Wouldn't worry about it.
kite
OK I'll stop worrying, but I'd like it fixed !
Tobes49
[ QUOTE ] OK I'll stop worrying, but I'd like it fixed ! [/ QUOTE ] Untill you find out what way the headlamp is out you cant adjust it. You will have to pop it back to the garage and get them to tell you which way to adjust it. ashleyadam
I thought xenon's where self adjusting
PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] I thought xenon's where self adjusting [/ QUOTE ] They're self-levelling, not self adjusting. So left/right aim is manual, and up/down aim they just attempt to always keep it pointing the same whether the car is empty or fully laden - which means if their starting point is wrong then they'll always be wrong! kite
Advice slip says " offside aim slightly high". Dealer told me 1hr labour and has to be done with VAGCOM. Are they fibbing !
Paul
No they are not. You have to set the lights to a neutral home positon first with their diagnostics/vag-com and then make adjustments, and reset with vag-com. It could be argued they they could do it in 1/2 hr, but it might be their standard chearge etc.

kite
Cheers PaulS3. Any idea where the adjusters are on the headlamp ?
Paul
could be anywhere dependant on headlight. some accessable from the top, or from behind, and some are set up internally as well as the exterior adjusters, though you really should not be touching these.
