R32North
I think thats what the 2.0 TDi gets with a remap as well, something like 185hp / 310lbs. Sounds like a who lot of fun whichever way you look at it!!!!

Riz [/ QUOTE ] I looked into a 'module' that made claims of high HP / LBs figures, but I can only see those figures coming froma RR session and custom map. Can't see how someone can dial in a preset map and make the car response properly all in advance of know the actual car that its going into. I've heard good things about the 150hp 1.9 TDi VX tuning, but the remap figures are simlar to the VAG, ie 180-185hp and 300lbs ish. Plus, with that sort of pwoer you'd need to improve the inatke cooling or you'll be losing up to 15% thru heat soak on a hot day.
Rustynuts
Yea, but big numbers sell things better than small numbers. It's called advertising, and more and more people are falling for it.
Agoogy
I've just put a www.MrHoot.com in my recently acquired 3.0v6CDTi Signum..and to be honest it IS much better, less lag, less soot and awesone in the midrange (no slouch before)..but it didn't blow me away in the way I expected "25% more" would... high expectations, lower reality, maybe more my fault than theirs. I got it off ebay for £167 and the support before, during and after was top notch..they'reand they say they make it in UK, not ship it in. They're only an hours drive from me too which is reassuring. Put in a K&N panel too... alledgedly it will give 215hp and 322lb/ft. New to diesel and LOVING IT! the v6 sounds gorgeous too! better than the 944 turbo I sold to get it (couldn't commute in that). Average mpg has increased by 2 aswell from 41 to 43 and I've only had it in 2 days!
DaveBadger
Remaps/tuning boxes are a cheap way of getting a lot more power for a reason - The car will smoke twice as much, the turbo may blow up, it will kill the warranty and probably over stress the chassis and brakes. I'd just save for a quicker car.

I tend to agree that brakes and suspension should go hand in hand with remaps. Also, don't forget that most cars ECUs are tunbed for a happy medium between power and economy, so reammping a wee bit to get some more HP while losing a couple of MPGs is sill within the boundairies of the cars capabilities and tolerances, so they're quite safe and good value for money. Take a little time to research the subject and talk to a few experts and you will know more about the subject to make a better informed opinion in future. For your information, I know of plenty of remapped cars that have covered well in excess of 100k since remap with no issues whatsoever. A well tuned remap of a diesel will produce no more smoke than a standard car, will be well within the engine paramaters and provided correct maintenance and servicing is carried out (on top of the reccomended servicing) the engine won't die, and neither will the turbo. Your comments are laughable.

You'll get more power for a start, and a tuning box in itself is no bad thing - but they do have a greater tendancy to create a bit of smoke than a remap due to the upping of the fuel delivery without increased boost. Either way, unless you redline it everywhere you're not going to blow up your engine or turbo as the poster above suggests
Riz
Right £229.00 including delivery seems a bargin in my opinion... so just waiting for delivery now... approx 200bhp with 313lb/ft in a car that weights 1345kgs! Mmmmmm could be fun. Riz
