charding370
I am thinking about the APS remap but can't seem to get any real info on what the improvments are other than response. Does it give more torque low/mid range? Ed says it gives 10 bhp without the Milltek rear sytem change and improves reponse no end. But 10 bhp in 250 is hardly noticeable if its all top end whereas if the torque is up that would be worth considering. There arent any before and after curves available to study. I don't like the rear exhaust boominess so that is not a future option for me. But at 350 + VAT thats a lot for 10 bhp. As several users seem to have got it is the general view it is worthwhile even if you dont go any further?
rs32
hi Chris wouldn't bother with this option personally - and you've invalidated your warranty for 10bhp. the Haldex upgrade is a better investment on a standard car imho.
charding370
Ed was saying it feels much much than 10 bhp as it improves response no end. He will have e serial port version available soon which should be virtually undetectable. I suppose you could argue a Haldex controller change would effect warranty as well-just not the engine. rs32
mileage is completely key here - at 10k miles with just the Milltek cat-back my car was way more responsive and probably quicker than the APS car with remap/cat-back at 4k miles. The Milltek allows the engine to breathe properly, the remap without Milltek will smooth the entire rev range for fuel/air mix & ignition timings but the engine still won't be able to breathe any easier. I made this mistake with a previous MkIV V6 4motion and it really didn't do a lot for the car. It's an option, but I personally don't see the point of doing this in isolation, just imo of course. Mook
Chris, for the money, if you only want to spend a fixed amount, you would be much better off getting a cat-back Milltek on its own, rather than a remap. Then add the remap later, which will give you the APS R265 equivalent.
