collease
Would you rather have a Skoda superb with all the toys money can buy or a VW Passat with all the toys money can buy. Not worried about engine just on looks and interior confort. You have to give your reasons. I would go for the Superb just because they look so much nicer on the outside IMO. Reason i ask is we have both outside and the superb is always left in the car park i think in the last 6 months it has been used twice and once was by me. The passat is always out being used so is it really that much better if at all.
stevie_d
To drive as a pool car then I'd take the Passat, but if I was buying then I'd buy the Superb as it's really, erm, superb value for money
sayerbloke
I saw a Skoda Superb last night. They're quite rare, aren't they?
collease
Dont know about how rare they are as we have about 8 in our fleet so they are common round here . Why would you drive the passat as the pool car though. what does it have that the skoda does not have?
theduisbergkid
Quite like the Superb myself, not sure if I would spend my own money on one though ....
timps
My next door neighbour has one, she got a new job working for Blackburn Rovers and they have a tie up with a local Skoda garage & was not at all happy about getting a Skoda company car. After a couple of years in her Skoda she sounds like a representative from Skoda UK and gives me a hard time for buying an Audi & would now buy one herself . So I guess as with most people its just the perceived image that is the difference.
stevie_d
I just think the Passat is nicer inside and may be more comfortable over long distances. However, I've never travelled in either so...
DaddyDub
Superb for Value or Passat just for the love of Passat's (IMO)!
Chrisg
[ QUOTE ] Quite like the Superb myself, not sure if I would spend my own money on one though .... [/ QUOTE ] ditto I read a bit in one of the motoring mags, probably a year ago, when the author was moaning about Merceses quality and suggested that M-B sent its quality inspectors to Skoda to learn how to do the job properly
cruiser647
Is it the new shape Passat? If the new shape, then I'd go for the Passat If old shape Passat, then the Superb as the Superb looks like the Passat from anything more than 50 yards! Wallachie
Value Cabs in Belfast have 300 cars on the road, most of them are Skoda Superbs. I'll take the Passatt......
NewNiceMrMe
If it was my money I'd take the Passat. There is no doubt the Superb is the better car, but I'd not be able to think of that as I watched my money go down the pan in big wads for every week I owned it. collease
Its the old shape passat cruiser. Fine if it was your money i can understand that but if it was just a pool car at your work and you had the oppertunity to drive either would your decision still be the same. Bounce
If i was buying it i'd have the passat and also if i was just borrowing it i'd still have the passat
shao_khan
I'd just use whichever was there - wouldnt fuss me too much.
garcon magnifique
I have no doubt the Superb is the better car. I wouldn't buy one new, but they are a fantastic used bargain if you're looking for an easy to live with barge. As for looks, I actually prefer the Passat - I think it's one of the best looking cars in its class. One downside with Superbs is that they're only available (until very recently at least) with the 'old' 1.9 and 2.5 TDi units.
NewNiceMrMe
[ QUOTE ] Its the old shape passat cruiser. [/ QUOTE ] Oh, I didn't realise that. I'd take the Superb then. My wife used to have a 1.8T 20v Passat and it wasn't our favourite car. It torque steered far too much and the interior build and finish wasn't as good as it should have been. The violet dash lights remain our favourites to this day though! Ultra-cool!
cruiser647
Old shape! In that case - I'd have the Superb please. My old shape Passat 1.8T was shite. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. (Must have had a stuffed up MAF or something and that was before I knew about TSN)
Snoopy
I don't like the new shape passat and really hate the silver dash so i would go for the Skoda, Even though most round here are taxi's
patently
I'd have the Passat, sell it, and buy a 944.
