Where's the cheapest place to get a Bose Sound Dock from? My sister wants one for Xmas.

These chaps have it for £237...but with a 1 year warranty

Rgb direct

John Lewis have it for the seemingly standard price of £249 plus 2 years warranty included....

Having had a look there are other speaker packages too for less cash but I've never heard them.....be interesting to compare. 169144-ok.gif

Have to back up Lottie here, I have just got a black BOSE Sound dock and despite its relatively small size the sound quality is absolutely superb. The sound is crystal clear and there is a rich bass that comes through as well. Bit pointless watching videos via the iPod on the sound dock but again the movie soundtracks sound great.

I think my next purchase will be a set of the new BOSE in ear headphones grin.gif

I was going to get mine from the U.S but I decided against it to ensure I have the warranty in place. Only problem is that it is now sitting in a box and I can't use it until Xmas as it was intended as a present smashfreakB.gif

Interestingly, our local Apple shop suggested that the Bose Sound Dock was well overpriced - and along with all the other similar speakers was not that good. They then recommended seperates, and they had several on offer. Amongst their recommendations was a JBL set that has a bass unit that looks a bit like Darth Vader, at a price of about £70. Soundwise it seemed better than the Bose, and at the price a bargain. Bearing in mind we only want this to use in our kitchen, we went with this as our choice, and we are well pleased. Not as asthetically good to look at, but does the job sound-wise for us. So, depends on where you want to use it, what you want it to look like, and what you feel is good value for money.

Since then we have been looking at upgrading our televisions, and when talking to the independent dealer we have used for the last 7 years or so, found out they had started to sell Bose. When I asked them about their (Bose) products, they simply said, the name sells them, but you can do so much better. But maybe they know they can sell me something much more expensive.........

I love Bose stuff but I must admit that does seem to be a recurring theory in this forum whenever Bose is mentioned. crazy.gif

I think there's no doubt that Bose is good, but whether it's worth what it costs compared with what else is out there for the money seems debatable.

I agree it's expensive, and a triumph of marketing over substance. I had vowed never to spend my cash on any Bose kit. However...when looking around for speakers to use with my Ipod I was distinctly unimpressed with the quality of anything else on the market, so spent £249 on the Bose kit as it was sounded the best.

Whether it sounds like £250s worth is debatable, but it was far better than anything else. However, it's a fast moving market and someone must be doing something similar by now

Just my thoughts...

Peter

The Monitor Audio Idock is £99 on Amazon and time and time again it beats the BOSE even at the same price point.

But everyone wants to spend twice as much ... fair enough if its a size / style thing but if not and you want the best sound think twice.

Visit the I lounge website it has a superb buying guide. 169144-ok.gif
