The thing is my golf, keeps reseting all the clocks reset, (digi-time clock and mileage [unfortunatley not the total miles] lol) the battery is brand new, and all the terminals are clean and there is no corrosion what so ever, also sometimes the engine stalls even when out of gear. Can some one please tell me whats up and if they have over come a problem like this. Would be grateful Cheers. Jay
dainton
Could you supply more details i.e. frequency of resetting clocks, stalling etc. Also does the stalling cause the clocks to reset? My gut feeling is damaged insulation that causes something to earth intermittanlty e.g. over bumps. But I would expect a fuse to possibly blow with that. redhotchilismad
Its happening approximatley 7-8 times a day, the engine doesnt stall all the time as sometimes im driving and the engine is still ticking over, yet the clocks reset. Ive checked the earths and they are fine, terminals are clean and they are tight. Its seriously weird.
Tobes49
First, I would check all the fuses make sure there clean and making contact, (both fuse boxes, one on battery and drivers side trim in car)

redhotchilismad
You are not going to believe this. After ripping the car apart checking all wiring was fine, which it was, the fault was a faulty headlight bulb. This is seriously weird....

redhotchilismad
After noticing all the wiring, fuses, relays etc were fine, i jdecided to chech to see if any of the bulbs around had shorted or started goin black, when i checked the passenger dipped headlight bulb it started to go black, Changed it and it hasnt been cutting out ever since, its been sweet!!! Tobes49
Glad you have sorted the problem, The only thing is I just cant see how this would affect the cutting out and dash reset problem.
