HD PC

The usually call a PC monitor HD when it has a native resolution of 1920x1080, and also they are also cashing in on everyone wanting 'HD' at the moment.

HD was a label, the manufacturers and software houses decided they needed a label, so they cam up with HD. 1080 resolution has been around for years, Jap laserdisc working on teh Muse system was 1080i and still looks stunning today, that was out in the mid nineties.

PC's have been doing higher than HD resolution for years, but resolution is nothing, you can play Quake at 1920x1080, still looks poor, you can play Gears Of War at 480 and it looks stunning.

HD is getting worse, when it was a niche product with D-VHS etc. etc. it was all pretty stunning, now half the stuff is no better than a high bitrate dvd, it is getting too mainstream and they are chucking anything onto tv in HD whether it is good or not.

Gizze has it spot on 169144-ok.gif

If you running at 1920x1200 resolution (the native res of the dell 24" panel) then you are running at HD resolution (slightly above to be picky).

However, it depends what signal you feed it. ie: Doom 2 will look poo at 1900, but HL2 will look good at 800x600 etc etc.

Can't comment on Gears of War 'cos I don't have a 360, someone buy me one for Christmas tongue.gif
