Ari
I'll tell you what's weird about this, if you look at the car there appears to be no impact damage to the front at all, it's like you've somehow crashed with the top of your driver-side A pillar. It must have been one spectacular crash if the first thing to impact was the top corner of the wind-screen frame! If I'd seen that photo without knowing any of the background I'd have assumed that the car was parked and a big tree had fallen onto the car diagonally across the roof from offside front to nearside rear. How the hell do you crash to emulate that kind of impact? You certainly don't do things be halves I'll say that for you Nelson.
jediknight83
just what i was thinking.. theres no tree shape dent in the side either so you havent hit it sideways... looks like the car was flipping forwards or rolling on its side when you hit the tree. nasty! Ari
Looking at all the earth in the front wheel I wonder whether it dug in and flipped the car diagonally. Nasty...

Cupramax
Certainly a disincentive not to get too clever in a cab although the windscreen pilars are hugely strong I dont think I'll try and find out

Nelson_R32
By the way for anyone that cares; whats wierd is that 15 years ago I used to play in that very same compound as its a VAG Approved Bodyshop my Dad used to own; I used to love looking at other write offs etc. Didn't think I would be looking at my own car 15 years later Shark; no airbags went off but I don't think I'll be able to get away with that one
DanG
Neil, Hope you are OK and that there are no long lasting effects. Icy understeer and a ditch maybe - looking at the position of the tree dent across the roof. Take it easy..... A4's top crash rating is well worth it. eolair
you are one lucky guy. looks like the A and B pillars took the brunt, and not much frontal impact to push engine/wheel into the footwell. You didn't have side/curtain airbags did you? Mate just mentioned that you might want to see a chiropractor for whiplash. no seriously, no messing. WL can take ages to appear and has a variety of symptoms that you might think are general aches and/or unrelated to the accident. Get a reccomendation from your doctor and pop along. shark_90
The A4 does have side/curtain airbags yes, but I don't think any of the airbags when off from what Nelson tells me.

Booster
Ooya! That's really nasty. Was the ditch you hit on the offside of the car then? I would have thought that it would have been on the nearside unless you were on the other side of the road?
