Alienware PC's ?

Looking at getting a new PC as the one I am using is clunking and whiring and giving me error messages a plenty!

Looking at a Dell XPS 710 or an Alienware Area-51 7500(primarily as they look very cool!).

Both systems with 2g Ram, same dual processor and a high end graphics card cost out with the dell about £250 quid cheaper.

Going to need to run twin monitors off it, play games, and spreadsheet work and of course TSN smile.gif

(Not sure if I really need a Phisics Accelorator, but what do you all think?!)

One with liquid cooling and flashy lights or a Dell?

Cheers

Superb!

Thats about the same spec as I will need, although I am undecided about the liquid cooling, as I am pretty sure I wont need it! but def want the Fx lighting thing!

I am thinking black with the dual 2.13 processors, 2gb ram,

768 Geforce 8800 gtx graphics card ( I can always upgrade later if I really need anything more than that.... it supports twin displays).

250gb drive as i have two external and another 250gb internal i will use.

I'd go with your choice and double up on the dvd drives for £25.....

Creative Sound blaster x-fi

Creative 5.1 thx speakers.

Already running two Sony 19" monitors and have a wireless keyboard and mouse.

One question is the Phisics accelerator worth it? I presume that 768mb graphics card and a decent enough dual processing set up would be fine for all games n the market?

Would love a blue ray drive, but fear the cost given it'll be in the PS3...

I ran out of slots in the back of mine for all the things I wanted. In the end between Alienware and my I.T department it was decided the best thing to do was go for the dual graphics card and skip on the Phsyics accelerator. Apparently no games support that feature yet anyway. When they do I will have to get another external port fitted! 169144-ok.gif

Mate its afantastic machine, I specced mine up to way beyond their 'most powerful PC in the World', and made it much better suited to games. Im well chuffed with it. Keyboard and mouse are superb too! 169144-ok.gif

check if the gfx card is DX10. if not, see if you can wait or get one that is. Most of 07s games will be DX10, and form 08 it'll be the baseline. No point in shelling out for top spec only for gfx to be obsolete ina couple of months...

So is this going to be obsolete?

Dual 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 7900 GTX - SLI Enabled

I suppose you can always upgrade at that time?
