Couple of questions

I had a look in the boot and noticed something that I hadn't registered before. On the near side, in the boot, there is a strap/clasp combo that looks like it's supposed to hold something to the side of the car - anyone know what it is for?

Also, sometimes when I stop the car there is a rythmic, kind of sloshing sound comming from behind the offside rear wheel, every second or there abouts. It's not sloshing but very similar, then after about 2-5 minutes it'll stop suddenly.

The only other thing, although I think it probably is normal, is the radiator fan stays on slow for a few minutes after the engine is turned off - is that right?

thanks..

The strap is to hold a bottle of oil in a VW supplied case.

Thanks, should the Golf(GTI) have come with a bottle of oil in a case?

The slooshing is probably the fuel slopping around in the fuel tank - have you noticed it more when the tank is anything more than 3/4 full?

Not sure, I generally keep the tank resonably full so I'll run it down a bit to see if it happens then. The only thing I'd stress is that when it happens, which is not all the time btw, it's making that noise for a fair few minutes - which for sloshing of fuel, I thought, was a bit long. But on the same note I do notice it more when I've been giving the car a bit of a workout so you could well be right.

Thanks.
