I have just been on the phone to the dealer. The senior tehcnician has been looking at this today but it appears to be confussing him too, that could be a unfair comment but the service guys said there is no more updates from their work today. It seems the issue are deep as I am sure if it was the MAF or a couple of sensors they would be able to replace the parts 1 by 1 and see what flags next. I hope they explain exactly what the issues were once reoslved and assure me it has not damaged any other components. I really dont want things failing over the years if I keep it a while:(

They have extended the loaner until the end of the week.

Have you thought anymore about rejecting the car? What your rights would be. It might be worth looking in to, as you mention if you're keeping the car a while you don't want more and more to fail. Of course it might not, they might get it sorted and you never have another prob, but it may be useful to have yourself armed should you not be happy with what the dealer tells you!

Nightmare mate!

I'm having a few ongoing discussions with my dealer too, car arrived with a scuff on the bumper, thought it would polish out but it didn't. Got Paul from Miracle details out and he had a go, but said it had gone through the clear coat - he's improved it so it's almost invisble to the eye and recomended a paint shop to sort it.

Dealer is very good about it though - 10/10 for Parklands Audi so far.

Az, they maybe waiting for confirmation from Audi that they can actually replace components. Generally for strange cases Audi H/O will look at things on a case-by-case basis and will then authorise replacement parts. Sometimes they're a little slow in doing this and are unwilling if they're not 100% that part is at fault.

Hope it gets sorted soon mate n bet you'll give her a blast when she returns 169144-ok.gif

Sorry to hear that about the chariot AZ. Must be infuriating waiting to hear.

Whatever you do, make sure that you're totally happy with the car when you take it back. You sound like the exacting type which is exactly what you need to be when it comes to things like this.

Be patient with them but when the time comes to call it a day (if that happens) you stand your ground and don't compromise.

My father always used to tell companies like this "did you have any problems with the money I'm giving you?"

You're paying decent money - you deserve to be looked after!

Sorry to hear about your probs AZ.

In your position I would seriously consider rejecting the car, as it just doesn't sound a straight forward problem.

You have spent a lot of your hard earned on this car, and if you dont get a result pretty soon, then get the wheels in motion with some correspondence, this always pays dividends if you have to eventually go down the route of rejecting the motor.

Hope you get this all sorted ASAP ..........these things really are a fekr.gif

Mine is up to 3K with no probs, really pleased with the car so far, so just hope it stays that way with no major issues,I think that is always at the back of your mind with so called "new" models........ coffee.gif

sorry to hear of your problems AZ frown.gif

i've not got my s3 yet, but my gti had a very similar problem when it was new. without warning the power would completely die and the car would then either chug round in safety mode (i.e. <2k rpm) or stop dead. what made it worse was that it is a dsg so the feeling of total helplessness was terrifying UHOH7.GIF. sometimes sitting at the side of the road for a couple of minutes would then restarting the engine would clear it, sometimes it would just spurt back into life by itself.

so the first month of gti ownership was spent with the car in the workshop. vw tried everything they could to trace the many fault codes showing (similar to yours). the main ones seemed to be fuel pump related so they replaced both (HP and LP) pumps and neither made a difference. one day i was out getting lunch when i saw my car being towed back to the garage after it had broken down on a test run shocked.gif. eventually the only option left was to get vw HQ to authorise a new ECU and this fixed it straight away, though none of the engineers could explain why this had worked or guarantee that it wouldn't happen again smashfreakB.gif. it's been a year now since it was fixed and nothing has happened since.

obviously, i'm waiting for an s3 at the moment (this will be a very long 3 months SAUER0421.GIF) and the main reason is that my confidence in the car is still shakey. i hope audi get it sorted in a more convincing maner than vw did.

Might be worth popping in to the dealer and asking to have a look at the jobsheet for the car to see just how much time they have spent looking at it!

[/ QUOTE ]

I will be askng them that when they call, I suspect the senior techs have been pulled on to other scheduled jobs quite frequently.

So what do you reckon on compensation, first service free ?

I'd go for a weeks worth of RS4 or RS6 motoring- You'd get to find out what a 'proper' performance car does tongue.gif

jump.gif

Audi won't make any gesture, the dealer is likely to be equally tight- on a more realistic note a loan of the above mentioned cars or maybe a Audi track day might be nice 169144-ok.gif

Just had a call from the service department, it is all fixed grin.gif

They got Audi technical involved and they have been testing parts all over the place to find and resolve the route cause, it turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor crazy.gif

They have road tested it and no faults are now being reported, they apologised for the delay but said due to the new engine and the fact they only wantd their senior techs working on it, it has taken them 3 days. Great service from Guildford Audi 169144-ok.gif

I am happy it was only a sensor and asked if it would of damaged anything else, they confirmed it wouldn't and hasn't and it will be ready for collection tomorrow.

Looking forward to tomorrow ECLIPSe.gif

169144-ok.gif nice new Audi jacket wouldn't go amiss tho eh?

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, I have one of them from my A4 Cabriolet crazy.gif. They managed a free Audi jacket and a £250 Audi voucher that could be used for servicing and accessories etc grin.gif

Seems I am jinxed with getting new models just as they come out.

My S3 deserves a good thrashing tomorrow night 169144-ok.gif

Good news AZ 169144-ok.gif

So does a faulty oxygen sensor maybe point to contaminated fuel? I know you were saying you filled up at Total beforehand? confused.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

beerchug.gif Rob

No seems to be a straight forward component failure this time, Totl wrote to me confirming the station I used was not affected, also that it only affected their regular 95 RON unleaded.

Fella, I'm as pleased as punch for you. Good to see that they're looking after you and you get the chariot back muy pronto!

I suspect it'll be lovely and clean so time to get back out in it again.

After 3 days away you'll forget how quick it is. shocked.gif

Drive safe mate. 169144-ok.gif

How many miles added on the clock do you think are acceptable, I am thinking 20 maximum ?

A week! I'd be climbing the walls. Although in the grand scheme of things a week is nothing, and it's fixed.

I reckon up to 20 miles is about right. Had my 330ci in for warranty work (wheel bearing) and they road tested it and that's about 11 miles or so they've added to it just to test it across all surfaces and types of driving.

Good luck to you now - just enjoy the surge of power again!
