They didn't fib cuz they do, just not via the CD changer input, only off discs/mem cards.

They DID fib ... cuz the RNS-D DOESN'T display track names since it can't play MP3 CD's and doesn't have SD card slots!!!

There was also the "implied" fib about iPods showing track names ...

RNS-D does play MP3 CD's as my dad has it in his A4 and his does and it does display track names! but never tried it with the ipod adapter!

Are you sure your dad hasn't got an RNS-E, not an RNS-D?

The RNS-D in my 2003 S4 wouldn't play MP3 CDs, but the RNS-E in my 2004 S4 and 2006 RS4 do.

RNS-D = CD maps, 2 large buttons one either side of the LCD, manually moved LCD.

RNS-E = DVD maps, 1 large button on the right of the LCD, motorised LCD, SD card slots.

defo RNS-D .... but it is a 56 plate A4 soooo maybe its a new feature from the one you had!

iceman means the new 'Headunit' CD based Sat Nav which looks similar to the new Generation 3 units; this version can play MP3 CD's with track names.

The price in each market is based on what the market will take compared with the opposition. All cars and most other things are cheaper in the US than in the UK.

If it's a 56 plate and it was factory fitted then it's either a DVD based RNS-E or the CD based BNS 5.0 (the RNS-D was discontinued in 2004).

Sounds like your Dad has a BNS 5.0.
