if i pre order won't it take longer?

[/ QUOTE ]

No. You get priority.

Play.com send out pre-orders a few days early, to allow for postage. I've often had games 2/3 days before you can get it in the shops when I've bought from Play.com.

Its all down to the post, like Sparky, i've had stuff days early, i've also had stuff days late. Pre-ordering is a big gamble!

I'm gutted was looking so forward to this after reading reports, I would love to know what has happened. There's a few rumours going around they are having problems fitting all information on Disc again only rumours, just can not understand how this game can be so late.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Microsoft.

Rockstar told them it would need a Hard disk to run properly, and MS told them to re-think that requirement, given that many people didn't buy the hard disk with their 360.

I think they've just realised that there's a lot to do. The second trailer that came out showed a real frame rate problem, compared to the first one. Think it's just a bigger project than was first thought.

It always has to be Microsofts fault doesn't it coffee.gif

With the exception of Rockstar Table Tennis (a budget game at best), this is (to my knowledge) Rockstars first real foray onto the next gen consoles.

Developing probably THE most anticipated game, on two very new platforms was always going to be a challenge. And with the importance of the game, they were never going to release it until they are 100% happy.

Considering Rockstar and MS had a spat over the lack of HDD's, you really think that's helping Rockstar with a game of this size, not having access to a disk?

My point is, hardly a month goes by without a game getting delayed. Wether its Wii, PS3, 360, PC, etc. Developing your first multi platform next gen title is going to be a nightmare, and the chances of the title this size coming out on the release date are minimal.

I have no doubt DVD has played its part, im sure the lack of HDD has played its part, im sure the triple core processor has played its part, etc.

Im sure theres numerous things on the PS3 that have caused problems, for instance the Cell is proving challenging for everyone.

Both consoles have their advantages and disadvantages, and probably the biggest one would be a £50 price cut on a Core 360. A next gen HD Console, less than the cost of a Wii, with the latest in the biggest multi platform franchise being released at a simliar time, no wonder Microsoft are making sure you can play GTA on the non-HDD version!

This game is now devilishly close (due 29th April). I for one am very excited about it and have probably read close to 100 pages of GTA goodness. I do however realise for the most this isnt the Tyresmoke 'scene'. But nevertheless, who getting this and for what console?

Have you read some of the hands on's for the multiplayer?

Sounds absoloutely amazing especially liking the cops n robbers game.

Just found some details on the Multiplayer aspect:

Players are ranked from 0-10, picking up money in multiplayer increases rank

Options in each mode are dictated by the host - among the options they can change are location of the matches (can be entire city, one borough at a time, or even small sections within the borough), types of weapons available, time of day, weather, use of auto-aim, police presence, NPC presence, and tons more.

GTA Race sees the host choosing the class of automobile, each player can choose a car within that class. Races can include helicopter and boat races as well.

Multiplayer Modes:

Team Deathmatch

Classic deathmatch done Grand Theft Auto style. Go anywhere, do anything: the whole city is yours. 16 players max, teams can be made in any configuration. Weapons on the ground can be configured by the host. Capitalism rules here: the team with the most money in the end is the winner.

GTA Race

Rockstar North's twist on the concept of a race. Host selects vehicle type (each racer selects his or her specific vehicle after that), race, number of laps, and time limit. Despite ordered checkpoints, players can go anywhere in the city at any time. Do you want a straightforward race from start to finish or do you want to create a roadblock and shoot rockets at your fellow racers? The choice is yours - each player does it slightly differently. 16 players max.

Cops N Crooks

2 teams, 2 vastly different goals. The cops can see the crooks on their radar but the the crooks can only see the escape point making this the ultimate cat and mouse situation. For the first time, players can get a chance to be on the other side of the law in a Grand Theft Auto with Cops n' Crooks. A team of "crooks" need to get their boss to safety, as the team of "cops" pulls out every trick in the book to try and stop this from happening. Again, 16 players max.

Hangman's NOOSE

Co-op in Grand theft Auto IV is a 4 person affair. Each mode is a short, story-based mission you must complete with your friends. In Hangman's NOOSE you must get crime boss to an extraction point alive. First, several of Liberty City's finest need to be dealt with and then transport must be secured. Will you take Kenny to safety in an armored car? How about a motorcycle or attack chopper? The choice is all yours.

We could have some TSN death matches! Sounds good +++
