Finally managed to get hold of a copy of this last night and gave it a few hours last night. Not really sure what to think of it tbh....am not a car game fan and its going to need to get far better for me to sustain any interest in it.

My brother called me about this yesterday - he got a PS3+GTA4 bundle so it's the first and only game he's got at the moment. Initially the game refused to go past the first loading screen, then after a reboot he got an error and the PS3 displayed something along the lines of "rebuilding hard drive". On trying again it did the same but he left it for a couple of hours and eventually it started installing something and now its fine.....very sketchy!

I'm collecting a copy he's got for me on Monday so fingers crossed +++

I'd had one go on GTA, then the next morning I turned on my PS3 and the game wouldnt load up. It said 'HDD drive corrupt, press O to format'.

So I had to format it and have now lost my saves from all my games, which is a pain in the ass. Apparently if you switch the console off at the back, it can happen quite easily.

Luckily I hadn't got far in GTA, but I had Spurs top of the league in pro evo with the season almost over.

I've had a look around the web and it certainly sounds like there are plenty of gamers having big problems with GTA4 on PS3 and 360 - Sony owners having to format hard drives and x-box owners ending up with dead consoles seem pretty common....

As a precautionary measure I've just backed up my saved games to a USB memory stick, thanks for the warning Robin +++

You might end up with a very dusty PS3 then Riz!

The best thing to do is never turn the console off at the back until its powered down completely. Otherwise the HDD can still be working as you cut the power.

As bazza says, back it all up and you should be fine anyway.

Yeah, I'd seen that but not had time to try it as yet.

Still, how the hell this got through Q&A with such a major bug/problem/issue is going to seriously tarnish the whole, play games on consoles nothing can go wrong and it will just work thing.

Maybe it's the same as with the PC. As they can now patch games easily after release they release an unfinished product and hope no-one notices.

Im not sure I will be able to wait till them TBH. Does you mate have one to sell now. PS3? How much??

Its not my mate who's selling it its my dumb arse buying two, just noticed you meant 5th of next month not today :o. You can have my special edition for the PS3 for £50, maybe even a bit less. I think you should wait so i can see the CSL in all its glory.
