smass
my 2001 MK4 Golf GTI 20v is giving a 16684 (random/multiple cylinder misfire detected), 16686 (cyl 2 misfire detected) and 16689 (Cyl 5 misfire detected) DTC codes. It occurred driving on motorway at around 80mph. it idles fine but when accelerating it struggles between 1000-3000rpm, after that is runs a bit better. Whats gone wrong? thanks in advance for any responses

shark_90
Where did you get a fifth cylinder from?!
meriafel
Seems to be another one that's missing!
Mook
That's definitely the coil packs (the connect to your spark plugs - one coil pack for each spark plug, rather than the old-fashioned way of having one coil and a distributor). There's a big shortage in the UK at the minute - some ppl are having to wait until early May.
twigs972
Definately agree with the coil pack has gone, as I had the same problem with my old Octavia VRS coil pack went on two cylinders first and then the other two went later.
