AudiPartner
Can I remove the tint from dark tinted windows myself? Or is it a job for the experts? What should I expect to pay to have them removed? If paying to have them removed, do you reckon they'd do it for gratis if I had some others done (ie dark tints out, light smoke in). Ta. AudiPartner
Come on, this isn't like the TSN massive!
CarMad
It depends on if its tinted glass or film. If its film and people put it on themselves then surely its not to bad to take it off ?

pritesh
[ QUOTE ] Tint film is a complete whore to remove... [/ QUOTE ] I had to remove the tints I had applied to my pug 306 before selling it...it took me the entire day on a weekend to strip of the flim and clean the glass. Its a total bore and effort mate. You will need the old fashioned washing up liquid and a score pad to remove the glue that the flim leaves behind. then you will have to wash the glass a few times, and then finally apply some glass cleaner/polish. Best of luck!
Oli
All you do is catch the edge with a blade then, slowly peel it off, in one piece if possible. Then using something like white spirit or a good window cleaner - clean all the glue from the window. We do it all the time at work and its not a bad job, just a bit time consuming.....but then I do get my valetter to do it
CJS4
I had some removed when the government kindly changed the laws. Done by the people who originally fitted them,it took about 10 minutes per window with a heat gun. They didn't charge to remove it as I had lighter tints to replace them. fresco1
Probably a fraction more 'professional' than 'DIY' to achieve, mainly due to time and physical effort. To be honest, I'd weigh the professionally removed cost against a DIY job over a weekend, consider what else I could do in that time and for that money, and make an economic decision! Anyway, best of luck whatever the decision!
Oli
Fresco, the tint is one big piece of film, once you had an edge off, it comes off in one piece and then clean the glass - easy peasy
