Pincher
Check Ebay for some good deals on the F31d - £180 should see you with a camera, spare battery, 2gb card, case & mini-tripod I think I'll be getting one very soon.
Waylander
Personally I would prefer to buy from a store for warranty purposes. Saw one for £

RobK
My Ixus 950 IS arrived yesterday from Pixmania. My first thought was "blimey that's small!" as I have been used to my old Sony DSC-P5. It really is a very nice looking camera, too. It's very fast to start up, and the autofocus and face recogition is also very fast, so I think it must have a pretty powerful processor in it. The controls and menu are all easy to work out without needing to read the manual. I've only had a bit of a play taking photos with it, but I'm not that impressed with the auto mode so far. It seems to overexpose quite a bit, so when taking a landscape shot it made the sky look white instead of blue, for example. I had a lot better results using the manual mode, especially when I was trying some shots in dim light. I need to learn a bit about photography I think, as I'm not really sure what the effects of the various settings are at the moment. I'll put up some example photos when I have chance. Waylander
thanks. I read a professional review about the Ixus 850 only last night [sorry I can't recall where!] and it also commented on slight overexposure. Shots indoors/evening with and without flash [high ISO] would be greatly appreciated

RobK
Here are a few shots I just took out of the window. They're all in manual mode with 1 sec exposure. Warning - large files! ISO200 ISO400 ISO800 I actually think the ISO200 one looks most like what I can actually see. Lotsa noise on the 800!
CarMad
Just looked at a few shots with my F30, I get less noise at 1600ISO than yours at 400.
Waylander
feel free to post-up examples! Agreed though the ISO 800s looked very grainy. F30 night shot please CM
CarMad
Okey Dokey here goes nothing. I've had to make them smaller but they haven't been modified in anyway at all. ISO 100 - 2 Sec exposure ISO 1600 - No delay ISO 800 - 0.25 delay ISO 800 - No delay - At full Zoom !! (Not an easy shot to make without getting it blured.) ISO 800 - No delay - No zoom taken from same postion as above.
Waylander
wow that is impressive! [although one might question your choice of music... ]
CarMad
Cheers, It was a craking Gig. I don't know about others, but sometimes it is so good at taking shots in the dark it can make them look like its dusk. Not because its over exposing them just that it can take so much light into the large sensor. Select a lower ISO and you get even cleared shots at low light levels. It really is a stunning camera and with loads of manual controls to boot.

RobK
Decided to send my 950IS back as I'm not really happy with the quality of photos. It's a shame as it's a very nice camera to use.
Waylander
Well I just bought the Fuji F31fd for £125 from Wildings inc 2 year warranty. They wouldn't throw any freebies in though so off to Fleabay to find a 2gb xd card, a soft leather case and maybe a mini tripod!
