New camera type things on A4 & A40 - London

Has anyone spotted these too? They look like specs / Congestion Charge cameras. Maybe they're just 'traffic flow' cameras, but they've gone up in the last few weeks & nothing has been said about them. I spotted the ones on the A40 after I joined at White City heading out of town, and on the A4 coming out of town also, between Hammersmith Flyover & the Hogarth Roundabout.

Anyone got any clues?

i read an article on these but can't remember for the life of me what they do!

there are also cycle lane cameras coming to london - stray over the white line & £60 fine arrives a week later.. :1984:

I was having a good look at these when I was on the A40 the other day - I don't like the way they've placed them in front of the speed cameras.

So they can track you (and poss. your speed) as you approach them?

I know what you mean, I was reching for the stop pedal in a panic the first time I saw them
