Backing up a PC

My work PC has started to go a bit wobbly. I thought I'd back it up to my 100gig portable drive. It keeps getting to 4 gigs worth and then stopping. If I format the drive as FAT not FAT 32 will this solve the problem and what are the implications of using FAT not FAT 32?

You need to use FAT 32 (If you can't use NTFS that is) but use a cluster size of 16kb or higher it will allow larger drives than the 4gb that it might be formatted to at the moment.

FAT 16 is the old format that won't be able to format the drive fully. 169144-ok.gif

Standard MS backup is limited to 4Gb on FAT, i had this prob when I backed up some vital data off a server at work, NTFSing the job lot fixed it.

It's nothing to do with MS backup, it's a limitation of FAT.

Go NTFS as others have said.....
