jamief
Picking up an A8 from dealer tomorrow, they are taxing for 6 months for me. However tomorrow is 28th July, it isn't August till Wednesday.... I presume this means my 6 months tax will in fact become 5 months tax + the 4 days remaining in July. Any way round this? pontyslapper
Drive it untaxed for a few days - or resist driving it then tax it in August. Get them to not tax it and do it yourself over the PO counter on wednesday morning.
jamief
Was a bit wary about driving it with no tax. I've done it accidentally with an old car for a week...but never driven with no tax disk a all.....
Mook
DON'T drive it without tax - you'll effectively be uninsured Your options are to either swallow the cost of a month's road tax being lost for the last few days of July, or wait until Wednesday. The dealer normally won't let you go without it being taxed, primarily to avoid any comeback on them. If they do, you'll probably have to sign a disclaimer. I know when I would pick up the car - tomorrow and forget losing a month's road tax. Much more fun going out in a new toy over a weekend. Have fun in your new toy
Froggy
My tax disk has just come through this morning and expires 31/01/08. I think if it's within 5 days they cover it from the new month.
Mook
That only applies if your car is already taxed. If the car isn't currently taxed, they won't issue a disc ahead of time.

It works out that I'll lose about £12 or something...not the end of the world , and I'd much rather tax it now and enjoy driving it this weekend than waiting till next week! Cheers guys
Mook
You'll spend more than £12 on fuel playing with it over the weekend
jamief
Of that I am very sure. Thing is, it will be even more prominent, as I've been sharing car with fiancee since I sold my IS200... she drives a 1.2 Clio!
