SneakyMcC
The wife wants a SatNav for her birthday in Oct. If these are worth the money, I prolly better off buying now? Dunno why she wants one, she goes nowhere? The offer ends Monday. Halfords are selling off what I assume is yesteryears SatNav stuff. Can anyone proffer any advice. SneakyMcC
Oh! I drive a old Audi A8. Snooper type radar detectors thingy's dont work in there cause the glass has some kind of anti heat/glare/alien ray gun stuff on it. Do these Sat Nav things come with a summit to get around this problem? My m8 just tried his Syrius(?) in there and unless the sun roof open, it wont work! lesK
I have the syrius and it works fine in my A4. You can buy an aerial to get around the anti glare windows though. I bought my old misses a tom tom one and that seemed fine. I liked the bluetooth addition it has.
Froggy
That will be the heat reflective windows and the aluminium. It's like a Faraday cage. (look it up ) No radio, gps, gsm, or anything else inside. Needs external aerials. Enjoy

NunchukHamster
I've just bought one of these for the Volvo... http://www.mio-tech.be/en/gps-navigation-device-Mio-C510E-overview.htm Very impressed with it so far. That's the european model (£140), the UK version is slightly less. And yes, the bluetooth connection on these means it works as a wireless handsfree for a compatible phone. Muppetboy
I bought a Tom Tom One Europe V2 from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and have already used it in Switzerland/Germany and it's fab! I actually waited for the One XL to come out but when I saw it I thought feck that it's huge! I wanted some quite small and the "normal" One is the one! linky
SneakyMcC
The 2 chaps I spoke to in Halfords are say that they have, or would only buy Garmin. The y claim it ease of use, batt life and Sat reception is much better to the rest? True or are they on a incentive?

SneakyMcC
Thanx, but which one do you have?
sbgwz
I work in halfords so have been trained (ish) with the same stuff they tell everyone but im only ever honest to customers so ye garmin are the best with the most accurate mapping and the speed camera function across the range is brilliant i think we sold about 15 garmins today alone. and regarding incentive they only get money if you buy accesories i.e leather case etc. and for £3 you have to buy 2 accessories

SneakyMcC
Fanx Gang. Got the wife a "Garmin Nuvi 300T". What a nice lil'gadget. It dont need an external aerial! Oddly enough, it was the C510E I was searching for and got distracted!
