rhyds
This weekend i'm off to a BMC/BL show in Peterborough (no sniggering please...) and want to get my motor looking good. SRP's working wonders on it at the moment, but I need a new LSP, would EGP be any good or is there somthing else availabale that's better. The proviso is that I only have a hellfrauds available to me. (car's white BTW)
ahaydock
Well nothing wrong with SRP, and a couple of coats of EGP (24 hours apart). You could top it up with a Megs wax. Shame you can only go to Halfrauds - can you not buy from an online trader as the choice would be such much better and give you much better results. drpellypo
If you go to C&S etc they'll ship out next day. Are you wanting to go down the synthetic route, or more wax? Synthetic, you can't go wrong with Chemical Guys - some EZ glaze, topped with some Jetseal.
rhyds
Thanks for the info, i was planning on getting at least some of the work done tonight, hence no online choice. I do have a high-gloss wax (cheapo stuff ) which i might put on over the EGP
steelwind101
Hi, I doubt the "high gloss" stuff is pure (with out cleaners) and will probably remove your EGP and not last as long. Geoff
rhyds
I'll probably leave it off as suggested and save it for lower-spec jobs like my mother's car. I've ended up with AG shampoo, wheel cleaner and EGP, what's the best way to apply EGP? it seems a lot thinner than I was expecting.
steelwind101
Hi, Very thin!! A little goes a long way and if you apply it to thick its a real nightmare to get off. Luckily it spreads really really easily. I would apply a very small amount to a foam applicator, and just wipe over a panel until the product stops coming out of the foam. It doesnt clog like thicker, creamier products. Wait until the product hazes, it will take a while depending on your weather. Again, the swipe test will tell if you its ready. Just run your mf cloth with your finger behind it over a small area and se if it comes off cleanly. It normally takes around 30-45 mins to dry. If you try to remove before its dry it is hard going. Water just sheets off of this LSP, esp. the AG shampoo!! Geoff
