mlhj83
That looks really good. However, I wonder whether one would still be able access the rear of the headlights.

AbtSportsline
they make quality products. I fancied their intakes forever but, you have to be Bill Gates to buy one
Mook
TBH, it makes feck all difference what it looks like - if it doesn't increase the performance, I just can't see the point of having one. That said, given the option, I would rip all the extraneous plastic off any engine - it's only there so when Mr and Mrs Miggins look at it in the showroom they'll swoon with delight. BrakeSnake
well said mook. Going to get rid of that big manifold shroud when the HPA intake manifold arrives anyway. A nice aluminium or black powder coated lump is much better for that part of the engine
lenny
I see they are claiming 10bhp and 15 extra torques with this! Group buy anyone?

Henry52
There was a very interesting and good test carried out by BMW car mag a few years ago where they put a gruppe M on an M3 and got 6 bhp, took it off, then fitted a free flow exhaust and got 4 bhp, refitted the gruppe M and with both fitted got over 20 bhp. I thought that was megga for a non turbo.
Mook
[ QUOTE ] I see they are claiming 10bhp and 15 extra torques with this! [/ QUOTE ] That's just plain old marketing bullshit. On a stock car, you'd be lucky to see 3 or 4 bhp increase. What you need is details of the test, ambient air temperature, distance from sea level and fuel details - you can guarantee it was done at sea level (more oxygen), when it was cold (more oxygen again) and on high octane fuel. The only way you can add between 6-8 bhp to an R32 using an air intake is by modifying it first and getting it up to 300 bhp with an exhaust, cats and cams. Ritey
Or do some proper cold air induction and freeze the air thats been sucked in

lenny
Here we go Mook! Dyno Chart: HP gains: 249.9 to 260.6 PS +10.7 TQ gains: 271.6 to 285.4 Nm +13.
Mook
Handy that it's in an Asian language! Also, what other mods have been added to the car, if any, between the dyno runs? And WTF is going on with that red power curve Don't get me wrong on this - I'm taling from my own real-life experiences of playing with all kinds of performance mods on my Mk4 R32, which ended up as a Stage 4 with EIP cold air intake (CAI) and high pressure fuel reg. Adding the EIP CAI to the 304bhp ST4 setup added 7 bhp. Adding a panel filter added 4 bhp. I've got a history of being the Tyremoke guinea pig for trying out and testing mods on the R32... Panel filters (like the Carbonio and Gruppe M) absorb warm air from the engine bay, which is why a cold air intake (behind the front bumper) will always give better results. You also need to remember that the bonnet is normally open during dyno runs, so more cool air is avaialable to the filter.
graeme86
Funnily enough I met a guy on the weekend who can get these direct from Japan! There is a Mark IV version as well.
EdR32
These kits will cost in the region of £500 each. Personally I don't think I'd want to part £500 for a fancy induction kit.
BrakeSnake
£500 ??? bloody hell that's a lot. Surely if you're going to change the actual airbox, it'd be better to go for a K&N Cold air induction kit?

ChrisCSL
As Induction systems go. Gruppe M are suppose to be good. In my experience of replacement systems on x2 Lotus Elise's, Nissan 350Z etc. I've not really felt the power gain as it's so small in reality and always less than the "claim". In the Elises is was the noise improvement which I enjoyed. But those cars have no sound proofing (and sound sh*t as standard) where the R32 has a fair amount of sound proofing but already sounds good. In my old M3 CSL the induction system was the best part on the whole car. However I understand the Gruppe M system for the M3 still never sounded as good as the CSL. Just my 2 pence worth. Still, I'd be interested in hearing more about the R32 version. Cheers Chris
Mook
The CSL just sounds the muts nuts, with all that mechanical induction noise when it comes past you at full chat - even better at Spa on the straight leading down to Eau Rouge. Bloody great

Decked
I'd personally go for the intake over the panel filter just because it will sound better....
