Tarmac_Terrorist
I think he means the complimentary 'spare' litre bottle left in the boot as many dealers do after a Longlife service
JonnyGTi
£195 here in Leeds - was cheapest of three dealers
rowley
mine was £275 at Warrington VW - total rip off merchants, plus they left a nice dint the the rear passenger door as well.
SMB
not all services are the same, make sure you know what you are getting, a simple time distance oil change is cheapest, then long life, then long life with inspection ( often at 2 years old point), then brake fluid change is typically extra at 2 years. So basically you can't compare the above prices directly as they almost certainly got different types of service. My longlife service with 2 year inspection and brake fluid change was 270 all in. Probably not the cheapest but they did it when i wanted it , and gave me a hire car in that price, and followed my instructions not to wash etc.

eightleggeddj
I was absolutely stunned at the cost of a first service for my GTI. One dealer wanted £240 and another £215. I have always used a reputable vw/audi specialist garage near me for all previous cars outside of warranty but it turns out that now you dont have to get your car serviced by a dealer to maintain the warranty as long as genuiune parts are used. I now have a cost for a first service of £85 !
petsy
yup, the only reason for using the dealer is to get a VW stamp in your service book...

Infact you don't even have to use genuine parts theres been quite a few court cases about this and its now worded something like 'parts of equal quality'
mikemod
The main advantage of getting the dealer service done is when the warranty runs out. I have had work done outside the warranty period on previous cars, which have been paid for by VW as a goodwill gesture. I suspect that had I not had a fully stamped service book I would have had no chance. Luckily my dealer is not hard to pay as the first and second services have been £130 and £
stooH
Sorry to resurrect this one but just had to book mine in for it's first service, getting done in a couple of weeks, approx 13.5k miles on long life servicing. Peter Cooper in Portsmouth £260!! White Rose Petersfield £190. Just confirms everything i've ever thought about Peter Cooper. Now booked in at White Rose and they've even said they'll see if they can sort out the door alignment for me when it's in.
Snoopy
Think i just read an advert this week for VW servicing were VW say they will match any writen quote from any garage within 5 miles using genuine parts. CMC950
I had my first service at VW Finchley Road London. Last month, car is 18 months old and has 17K on it. £300 and two new Conti SC2 front tyres for £140. Yes the service was a rip off but I was too busy to shop around that day. Edit. Ah it turns out mine was the longlife service and another isn't due for another 18 months/17K miles ish, now. So, more but less often. Ok that's fine...! winrya
But its wrong that I paid £154 for the same service that you paid £300 for.

[/ QUOTE ] Interesting - mine just asked for it's first service, and White Rose quoted £195 whereas Peter Cooper's quoted £165 inc. of SmartRepair to passenger door dent. Two days ago I got the '2100 miles or 2 days' message, that normally takes me 2 months to do! This morning, I fired it up to move it about for a scrub, and got 'SERVICE NOW!' and it has covered about 2 miles since Thursday!
winrya
but thats because you're set to time and distance, hence 2 days has passed and service now.
stooH
Not sure what the difference is in cost as well as you're on a T&D as opposed to my longlife. Apples and Pears unfortunately. Interesting to see that Peter Cooper were cheaper though...

[/ QUOTE ] I was quoted £95 for a 1st T&D service and £195 for 1st Longlife Service from the same VW dealer. There was a bit of confusion over what service plan my car (previous car) was on. eldiablorubino
my 'service now' came on about a month ago (just under 12 months from when I collected it). i rang the dealer, thinking that my car had been put on a T&D schedule by mistake at the PDI, but was told that all cars are set to longlife as standard at the factory. if you do less than 10000 miles in a year and have a pattern of short journeys the computer will revert to request a service. interestingly i hit the 10000 mile mark one year to the day from collection! haven't got round to booking the service or getting prices yet... Tarmac_Terrorist
Many dealers set to T&D despite coming from factory as Longlife. I do low mileage so have set to T&D but use longlife oil
