Ari
Recorded something on the TV this evening. Now I'd like to get it onto my PC as a video clip. So I've taken the DVD out of the DVD recorder and stuck in the DVD reader/writer on the PC but it says "no DVD" when I try to play it. Any clues? Snail
Have you tried "finalising" the DVD. Some DVD players do proprietry stuff, until you finalise the disk.
Ari
Just tried that. It has that facility but unfortunately I've used a DVD-RAM and it seems you can't finalize those. I also tried playing the disc in a normal DVD player and that can't see it either. I've ballsed this up haven't I..?
craigyb
You need a dvd ram compatible reader in your pc.
Ari
So I'm screwed then basically? Feck it!
CarMad
You could in theory play it on the DVD player to a VHS and then back to a DVD-R or similar, you would lose quality this way but it might still be good enough for what you want to do with it. simkna
To play DVD-RAM in a PC you need two things; 1) A DVD-RAM compatible drive 2) DVD-RAM compatible playing software. You may have one of the above, but not the other, or neither. Some drives can be re-flashed to become compatible. Si.
Rustynuts
Ari, have you got a hard drive recorder with dvd recording built in? If so, copy it onto the hard drive and then record it back onto a dvd+ or dvd- disc.
Ari
Ha, bit of a result! The clip I wanted to record was on the late news too, so I got it onto DVD R. Put it into the PC, it saw it fine, and I've dragged the clip off onto the PC so that's good. Only thing is it's in an odd format (a sort of DVD format I suppose) so it won't play on Windows Media Player or whatever. Any thoughts chaps and chapesses? CarMad
See what nero can do to it. Load it into that and convert it to another format.
Cameo
If you just want to view it, i.e. you're not worried about converting it, try downloading VLC Player It plays most video formats
Ari
[ QUOTE ] See what nero can do to it. Load it into that and convert it to another format. [/ QUOTE ] I'm just buying Nero 7 (trial copy expired ages ago) so once it's up and running again I'll give that a go.
