TrundleFly
Hello all I have a 2012 A7 with SIM slot and Google maps etc. I gather it is not possible to use a SIM in the car AND use Bluetooth to my mobile phone for calls at the same time. However it seems this is possible with newer cars. Does anyone know if this can be enabled in older cars like mine through an MMI software update? Thanks for any answers. chasdrury
Yes, you need a firmware update and to enable it by the engineering screen which needs to be activated with VCDS
TrundleFly
Thanks. Is that something Audi need to do or can a good independent with the right kit also do it?

Audi won't do it! unless the firmware fixes an issue. I have tried and tried to do it with them but it's a no!
PeterS
My A3 does let the MMI use the cars data connection for Google maps and creating a wifi hotspot in the car while using Bluetooth for calls via my mobile. So it's a real shame Audi won't enable this on cars only a year or so older...can't see what the problem would be?
Mo-S3
You can buy the correct update software on sd card form your parts dept if they are willing to sell it to you and update the system your self. iirc they are about £40. You will also need to change a setting in the green engineering menu in order for the sim & BT to work together.
