Riz
I would think so with probably Sat Nav+ TV, tyre pressure monitors, parking sensors, cruise control, heated front and rear seats, 2 passenger a/c controls, gmbh suspension, matt chrome mirror`s, 18/19 RS alloys with RS named brake callipers, RS3 embroided seats, 2 new special paint options, RS6 sytle exhaust system, aggressive body work in true RS style, hopefully chrome window surrounds.......... all speculation ofcourse! The only info that Audi has leaked out is on the Audi Corp site saying that there will be a RS3 with a bi-turbo engine with a output of 350bhp. Im sure it will have most of the above anyway
Riz
I have conducted a wide search of:- audi.co.uk audi.com audi.de and various site`s via yahoo which had RS3 in them! And none of them acctually have any info on the RS3??? The only info is on the Audi Corp site which Dave has posted! [ QUOTE ] The new Audi A3 will offer five new engines, three petrol & two diesel, including tax busting 2.0 ltr fsi. and Euro4 2.0ltr tdi. Audi plan a 280ps v6 S3, to be followed by a blistering 350ps twin turbo RS3 Model. [/ QUOTE ] Now im starting to wonder is this really something to go on, after all it is a UK Audi site and a geezer probably got abit carried away with `real` info? I have spoke to two Audi dealers and both said there will be one and one of them even asked for a £1000 deposit!
Gabster
Was'ent the current S3 around £29k when it first came out? If I remember correctly the price was dropped around late 99 to £24k. I reckon there is usually about a 33% price hike between the S models and RS models so if the S3 is 25k expect the RS3 to be £33k ish.
Riz
The S3 was originally 27ish and then dropped to 24ish. I think that all the A3 series will be priced similar to the outgoing model`s, so the new S3 should be around 24k plus the usually hike for a new model, 25k RS3 should still be around the 30k, remember that Audi wont want to overlap prices with other models. S4 is 36k....... who knows! its all guess work!
Woppum
if you do not believe that the golf r32 will be capable of 515bhp then check this site and suck it!!!!!!!! please just admit to yourself that the golf is better becasue there is just no denying how good this car is. you think sub 5 secons for the rs3 is good this must be capable of under 4!!!!!!!! the site is http://www.projektzwo.de/e-autopage/news/mitte-news-detail.php3?id=
Dave
Yes.. but would you really want to bee seen in that monstrocity.. It's looks awful.. those headlight infils make it look like a badly modded sierra. Don't also forget that the RS3 will be easily chippable.. should be able to see 500bhp quite easily... The engine in my Rs6 is good for 1000bhp (just a shame the gearbox isn't )
SammyS3
Woppum, I think you're missing the point. Anyone with enough money, and faith in a tuner's product can tune their car to however many squillion whorespower, and I have to admit that the golf does sound tasty (but without those nasty headlight separators). But the point is that Audi are making a STOCK hatchback with 350bhp, which I expect will be done with all the taste and understated style of the previous RS models. But the most important fact is that it will all be under factory warranty. You have to admit that's pretty cool. I want one Sam
TheVon
Woppum, what the f*ck is wrong with you? Sammy S3 told you exactly how it is: [ QUOTE ] Anyone with enough money, and faith in a tuner's product can tune their car to however many squillion whorespower [/ QUOTE ] ... and by the way, I like Golfs (at least have othing against them. stephencam
I went up to my Audi dealer yesterday to put my name down for the RS3. They told me that one wasnt coming out but the new S3 will be out at end of this year. Either rumours of the RS3 are incorrect or my Audi dealer is talking outa their arse which i reckon they are doing! Can anyone confirm for certain re the RS3 pls? s4dreamer
The good thing is that all you guys are going off and showing interest. This will be fed back to Audi UK (I would hope) through the dealer channels, and Audi UK should feed it back to Audi Gmbh such that they recognise the demand and actually commit to the RS3 model. Riz
There`s no official information yet, except the small snip off the UK Audi Corp site, there is no other mention of the RS3 on ANY other Audi sites! i looked for info on the following :- audi.com audi.de audi.co.uk and some search engines. As for dealers asking for deposits i think it`s abit early. My name is down with a couple of dealerships and will see what the import prices will be before i buy. Think about it, just say you put down £500 to be at the top of the list, then someone else comes along and does the same....... then a year later the dealer has around 30 people with £500 deposits! do you really think they will get all the cars for all the 30 customers! mmmmm i dont think so, they will then ring back people and say "sorry when you put your deposit on we had already alot of people inline" If they make one i will most definately try for one, but the possibilty of importing one is also open to investigation more nearer to the time. I understand that there is a shortage of 3.2 V6 motors at the present and that the UK is unlikely to see many, if any TT 3.2s this year. That leaves no chance for A3 let alone S3----- I hope as I'm just getting a S3 on the basis that the new S3 will be at least 12/18 months away

Riz
The A3 3.2 V6 comes out in Germany mid 2003 And my predictions for the S3 are end of 2004 (earliest) and most likely 2005 As for the RS3 i would say around 8 - 12months after the S3 has been released! Adam
trouble is we think these people are as keen on cars as we are just coz they work there I have never met a car salesman who knew more about cars than us lot so why wxpect them to be as informed communication within Audi is probably just as sh*te as most other giant corporations and unless salesman read every bit of motoring press like a lot of us do (or read it second hand on here) how will they know the breaking news? I am sure journalists employed to unearth scoops get to hear stuff direct from Audi AG before it filters down internally
