Diesel type

14 posts in this topic

I think it may be a good idea to identify the types of diesel members use and their relative performance, ie low sulpher, city etc etc.

I fill up at my local Q8, so I will post shortly.

I use Sainsbury's special 'cos it's cheap and so am I smile.gif

Can't really comment on relative performance as I very rarely fill up elsewhere, but it would be interesting to know if anyone does notice a difference between different types of diesel fuel.

BP, mainly cos I've got a loyalty card with them and I like the greeness of their fuel stations.

Is there any difference in diesel anyway?!? I know they do low sulphur, but other than that, whats the difference?

There are some differences other than name alone, ie low sulpher & 'city' diesel.

What they exactly are I'm not quite sure, but I'm off to the fatherland tomorrow for a meeting with Ford of Europe to discuss client requirements for some engine test cells and also to discuss a new emmissions laboratory - I shall raise this and other questions as most of the day will be concentrated on the new diesel assembly plant at Dagenham.

Diesel engines certainly seem a lot less fussy as to what you feed them than petrol engines. I always use that millers diesel additive although it's debatable as to if it makes any difference.
