  1. check your power steering fluid did you change the water pump at the same time?
  2. orange coolant and crunchy pipes mean rust, at some point someone has put the wrong antifreeze in and now the block has rusted and all bit's of rust go round with the coolant and block up all the pipes the rad and heater.

  5. yes its an interference engine He claims that the engine just died and that he heard no kind of nasty noises when it did. and i'll bet he tryed to restart it and bent a few more valves

  11. with the engine cold and the heater/climatronic all off both fans should be off when you turn on the heater/climatronic the fans should come on slow speed with little to no noise

  14. my old A3 2.0 tdi used no oil at all in the 6 months/ 2k i had it (thinking about it audi had it for about 5 months changing bits that broke or fell off)
  15. is there any smoke from the exhaust when or just after its lost power if so what colour smoke?
  16. the immobiliser on the key can only be coded once , so you can't get an ebay key recoded, you can get them to open the doors but not to start the car
  17. if your have a 5.5 passat and if you can get hold of oem xenon headlamps ie w8 they are plug and play

[/ QUOTE ] glad to hear its all sorted now but don't drill a hole in the stat as you will increase flow to the rad and over cool the engine and make the heater cooler aswell ps how long was the car driven with a faulty water pump as this maybe also started the headgasket going from over heating in the block
  19. its a renault so join the AA or RAC and change the cam belt,tensioner, rollers and anything else the runs off it at least 50k before renault recommens

  22. get new top bolts before you start the job and spray wd40 over the top clamp a day or two before aswell
  23. i was waiting for a post to say the thermostat did not work, you need to do a snif test to check for exhaust gas in the coolant, just make sure they use diesel chemical and not the petrol one
  24. now 02 1.9 tdi avant before 04 passat v6 tdi was only getting 18mpg round town 03 audi S3 chiped,miltec,porker brakes ect,ect had elec proplems that 3 audi stealers can't fix plus to fast with new baby in the back his neck may snap with all the g's 03 audi A3 (8p) 2.0 tdi sport with a few toy's, bits that went wrong 2 gearboxs, 5 wiper motors, new bonnet (old one damaged by bad fitting of wipper motor), 2 ECU's, ABS unit, 2 rims (kirbed by audi fitter) 1999 pig 306 Dturbo s did over 40k only needed 2 tyres and a set of brake pads 1990 pig 309 td did over 300k with just tyres,brake and a few services
