  1. [ QUOTE ] Back to the orginal post. Has anyone got a proven method that helps keep a bright, gloss /wet look finish on diamond black? I've tried all the quality products (waxes and top coats) and they do a great job, for a month. I'm not lazy, I'll hand clean the car every week anyway, but the full clean, fly removal, tar removal, misc marks, leather, wax and top coat takes 4 hours + Anyone tried any of the top coats that some Showrooms suggest are applied when the car is new? Or are these just versions of Auto Glym, Mergulars type product! [/ QUOTE ] Have you tried Zymol? I use Concours Wax, HD Cleanse pre-cleaner and Clear wash. The stuff is wicked and after the full initial application should last a good 6 months or so. It is expensive but far better than anything else i have tried. Sanjay
  2. Hiya! Agree with with what R32 North says except that the stock car has an annoying boom from 2-3000RPM in cabin which you don't get with the Milltek. Mine has the silencer and also the sports cats which gives the car a really throaty metallic edge...and makes it go better too!! Either way the exhaust is well worth the extra. Have fun, Sanjay
  3. Sounds about right...my 993 C4S was about the same! Sanjay
  4. Since May 2004...and i've had 7000 fab miles in her since then!!!!!!!!! Sanjay
  5. With Milltek fitted already: pre remap 253.7 BHP post remap 274.2 BHP pre remap 242.3 lb/ft post remap 271.5 lb/ft The Milltek freed up the breathing of the car and it seemed a lot less breathless at the top end and made the car sound wicked!!! The AmD stage 2 remap just gave it a whole lot more grunt throughout the rev range, effortless power Just had the Milltek sports cats done and have noticed better throttle response, noisier more metallic exhaust note, which sounds fab, and the car does seem quicker. Hope this helps, Sanjay

    Press kit

I bought one off eBay last month and paid..ahem...£62!(Auction 2257472290) Got a bit carried away but the kit is lovely with lots or glossy pics...shame i can't read german! Sanjay
  7. Your car looks amazing...those wheels are faberooni!!!!!!!!! Sanjay
  8. Of course it's a drivers car I've owned some wicked cars in my time and they all had their strength's and weaknesses...the thing i love about the "R" tho' is that when you're in the mood you can thrash it all over the place and it just goes, come rain or shine...and when you're feeling like chillin' she just cruises....A wicked, wicked car and for what it's worth better than my 993C4S, better than my S2000 (tho' VFM wise this was pretty awesome!), better than my Integra Type R, and almost as good as my beloved Boxster S!!!! Sanjay
  9. [ QUOTE ] For the people who have had this update what fuel are you running? Ive always used Shell Optimax from day one. Ive done probably 1000-1500miles since the update and its still running good. Riz [/ QUOTE ] Riz, optimax since i bought the car in May....she seems more sensitive to temperature than before, now that things have cooled down a bit the flat spot seems to be less noticeable...when it was baking it was bloody annoying! Sanjay
  10. Had 6463 done last month and flat spot is back again VW had better bloody sort this out.... Sanjay
  11. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] L3ETT...what's with all the AmD doubting??? These guys are professionals who work on all sorts of cars, with manufacturers queuing up for their help and expertise!! If AmD say that the maps are custom, i for one believe 'em Unless you are qualified to disprove this then you really are being a Sanjay A very happy AmD Stage 2 customer [/ QUOTE ] I'm doubting AMD because this discussion regarding custom maps has been had before on other forums.. so I'm obviously not the only one who doubts they customise every map to you car. I suspect that we will find that AMDs understanding of the word 'customise' if different to what we would expect.. To produce a new mapping for a car takes an awful long time (AMD's own words when they were justifying the cost of a remap) and I cant see why they would go messing with it to try to extract that extra 2-3bhp for your specific car?? I have no personal experience of AMD, what I am saying here has come from reading other forums, so I dont have a personal vendetta with AMD in case that what you think! [/ QUOTE ] Well that's alright then In response to evolution38, I had my car AmD remapped, then had the 6463 update done at the local VW garage which removed the remap...the car was smooth but seemed really gutless compared to before, noticeable difference in driveability and no more "fat torque" feel. AmD kindly re-remapped my car and took the new 6463 code from it too. The difference on the way back was massive!!!! Well worth £600 of my money any day of the week Sanjay

    EXTRAS?

I'd have the same spec...Sat Nav, Cruise, Full Black Leather but Moonlight Blue, I think that would be wicked!! Sanjay
  14. [ QUOTE ] Booked in for next Friday, but they have it now.. Lindvale VW Ipswich Road Colchester Essex [/ QUOTE ] Don't forget that it will "erase" your AmD remap...if you speak to AmD, they have the new code too. I'm sure they would do the re remap FOC for you. Sanjay
  15. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Mine is going in next Friday, the dealer says he has the update [/ QUOTE ] Are you sure this isn't going to b*gger up your AMD remap Pete, or are you going to have it reset before and after it goes into VW !? JT [/ QUOTE ] The ECU upgrade will remove the AmD remap, but if you take car to Amd they will install update and then re remap your car!!! They did the re remap for free for me as my car was the 1st to go in with the ECU upgrade, which they then copied. Give 'em a call and see what they can do. HTH, Sanjay
  16. Hi!!!! Have lots of fun Sanjay

    Hello!

    Hi!!!! Have fun Sanjay
  18. One thing i did notice on job sheet was that cars under 10000 miles only were being treated as warranty claims. Maybe this explains why some of you haven't been contacted??? One of the techies at VW Reading has an R32...said that this was the definitive fix and made big difference to his own car. Sanjay
  19. Had new ECU software installed today, defo the latest version post v.4 firmware, only arrived at VW Reading last week. Car was much smoother and power delivery more "linear" than before with no step in pick up between 2-3000 RPM. Biggest difference tho' was lack of AmD remap, felt very slow compared to before with a much "thinner" power delivery and a noticeable lack of urge near the top end. Anyway went straight to AmD after Ridgeway had finished (phoned up and asked if i could come a day early..no problem)and they took ECU software map from car to use on future R32's, and re-remapped car. Wow!!!! she really flies now with a real fat torque curve, no flat stop and great top end Those of you who have the stage 2 remap can avoid the dealers and go straight to AmD and they will install latest EC version and re-remap for you, mine was FOC but check with them before you commit. Over and out. Sanjay
  20. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I had a phone call from VW Reading today telling me that new ECU software is available, booked in for 15/07. Spoke to AmD about my remap and they advised me to have upgrade done, but this would remove my remap!!! However, they will re-remap F.O.C Going to Amd on 16/07 to re-remap, will be interesting going back to stock and then having the remap done, will keep you posted! Sasnjay [/ QUOTE ] mate, I've just had a call from Ridgeway VW, Reading as I enquired about the ECU s/w upgrade - they told me there is only one software update available for the R32 and its already been done on my car (a couple of months ago) so they must be talking about the famous V4 software. Does anyone (odnet!) have a reference for this new, new software update ? VW down our way appear a little lost again [/ QUOTE ] Weird..thay already did the v.4 check when it went in at back end of June...it was up to date!!! I will ask some more questions when i see them in the morning, last thing i need is another v.4 and then another trip to Bicester to get the re remap Sanjay
  21. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I had a phone call from VW Reading today telling me that new ECU software is available, booked in for 15/07. [/ QUOTE ] Is that Ridgeway VW Reading ? I took mine there and received brilliant service, after the nightmare with Citygate Chalfont VW Can reccomend them to anyone, with a VW of course [/ QUOTE ] Yeah Ridgeway!! Fingers crossed they will sort out the ecu then I can get AmD to make it better than it was before Sanjay
