  1. I was looking on autotraders website and found this http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/car...rch_full=SEARCH Its the third S4 down.Seems like a bargain to me.
  2. [ QUOTE ] Currently driving around in a 55 plate 3.0V6 TDI whilst my S4 is being sorted out (see other thread on customer service) by Audi. Have to say I thought I'd be impressed by the 3.0V6 diesel, but I'm really surprised at how noisy and unrefined it is (seems a lot louder than the 1.9TDI's and dare I say it, much louder than the BMW six cylinder oil burners). Don't get me wrong, it certainly goes; off the line it's probably almost as good as the S4, although all similarities end there....apart from fuel consumption!. It's the 6 speed auto admittedly, but on the m/way today, it would not give more than 36mpg, at 85mph with cruise on. My S4 can do 28-30 in the same conditions, and around town the TDI was doing 19, again the S4 is at 17. Last time I drove a TDI 140 it was doing over 50mpg on long runs. The other thing that makes me chuckle about this particular car is the spec - it is seriously loaded, DVD Nav, Electric (but not sport) seats, leather, full bodykit etc. it even has S4 alloys! When I did a rough calculation of the price, it has over £7k of extras on it!, making the cost, you've guessed it, almost the same as an S4! [/ QUOTE ] Correct me if I am wrong but a bog standard 3.0TDI SE list price is nearly £10,000 cheaper than a new S4. Also the S4 is alot faster and a lot lot thirstier. I reckon your monthly fuel bills on an S4 would be nearly twice that of the 3.0TDI.
  3. Good point about spillage on Alcantara. Fortunately I dont have any kids, who are more likely to make a mess inside.
  4. I like everyone else think that the CF interior looks sh*t. I have Black Alcantara in my A4 and IMO looks great and is more practical than full leather.
  5. A4 2.0T quattro Superchips re-map after 1500 miles Now done 14,000 miles No problems at all(touch wood) and loving that extra go.

    New Car!

Sounds like a great car. I would go for phantom black and 18" RS6 alloys (5 arm).
  7. I test drove the 2.0T, 3.0TDI and 3.2 FSI, from a real world performance view I was most impressed with the 3.0TDI, it pulled like a train in any gear. The 3.2 sounded very nice and was quite fast. Economically the 2.0T made most sense(which I now have and is re-mapped) and performs quite sufficiently too. If I was prepared to spend another £3k I would go for the diesel and get it re-mapped.
  8. I would take the new job. up to 3 hours commute one way, sounds like ball ache to me. BMW's arent bad cars either
  9. [ QUOTE ] Not sure how you turning up in an M3 will demonstrate the difference between a 13.n and a 16sec car but we can do that if you want. I am only mucking about Scotty. and I dont really want to be embaressed by an S4 in my 2.0T either.
  10. ntbritt - I should come in under 14secs so a 13.<something>. I've no idea what power you're pushing so don't know if 16 is good/bad/realistic etc. 2 secs doesn't sound like much but it will be huge. I see you're in Herts. I'm on the Herts/Essex border soif you want to see the difference, let me know. [/ QUOTE ] Where do you want to meet Scotty? I'll borrow my twin brothers M3.
  11. Was that 0-100 in about 14 secs? If so that is pretty fast however I thouhght a tuned S4 would be a bit quicker. My re-mapped 2.0T does it in 16 secs. Still that V8 sounds lovely and 164mph that is going some.
  12. [ QUOTE ] Depends on whether you have Haldex or Torsen Quattro. Haldex is OK but Torsen is the real deal, my S4 handles far better than my S3 even with ther rock of Gibraltar sitting over the front axle. [/ QUOTE ] Does the B7 A4 2.0T have Torsen quattro? and why is it better than Haldex
  13. I was just wondering what everyone thinks of quattro, especially now the roads are getting slippier. My A4 2.0T is the first car i have owned with four wheel drive and am loving the extra traction.

    3.2 FSI

I test drove one before I bought my 2.0T and was impressed. The 6 cylinder engine sounds very good and had pretty good all round performance. Similar to a BMW 330 petrol. I decided on the 2,0t in the end because performance wise isnt far off the 3.2, economy wise is quite alot better. The engine noise was tempting though. Pound for pound the 2.0T is better. If you are a real petrol head, find a few extra quid and buy an S4
  15. Yes I got mine done with Superchips and has added over 40 BHP.
  16. I havent seen any pictures yet, but considering my 2.0t s-line looks very similar to an S4, am guessing it wont be a great deal different. Also an extra 20 BHP is hardly worth having.
  17. My B7 A4 is in Phantom Black and IMO looked much nicer than any other colour. If I had to choose between your three options would go for Moro
  18. Ive got an A4 B7 2.0T petrol that has been re-mapped. It has done just over 10k. I recently noticed that the engine fan comes on very easily. Quite often after about 400 yards driving. the Temperature on the computer seem normal ie: steadily goes up to 90 degress. But I am a little concerned that even from cold the fan kicks in easily. Should I be concerned? or do Turbo engines have fans that start frequently?
  19. My B7 A4 2.0T quattro s-line overall is a very good car. The engine performs well for a 4 cylinder and it is reasonably economical. Looks wise it is very similar to the new s4 and inside it is nearly perfect and very comfortable. I would definitely go for the quattro it is great when road surface is wet. I also got the car re-mapped and now has nearly 250 BHP which has made quite alot of difference to performance probably as fast as a 330 BMW now. I also drive a 3.0TDI about 6 months ago and that is one hell of a car. Felt faster than my 2.0T, but diesel performance can be deceptive. I would have gone for the diesel had it not been nearly 3k dearer. The s-line gives the car a sporty touch with nice little touches such as lip spoiler, s-line badges sport seats etc.. Good luck with whatever you go for. Pound for pound I would say the 2.0TDI or 2.0T are the ones to consider. If money permits the S4.
  20. I have a Bose Stereo in my B7 A4 and think the sound quality is pretty damn good. I have also read some fairly mediocre reviews and was keen to see what others rate their Bose systems out of 10?
  21. I think it may help my Golf was a diesel with approx 230 foot pounds of torque, nearly 260 with smartbox.
  22. I used to have a Golf GTI Mk iv 150BHP, I bought a Vanaaken Smartbox which added about 25 BHP and 25 foot pounds of torque. This car was front wheel drive and the extra power wasnt a problem in the dry but in the wet in 1st and second liked to wheel spin. Well worth it though, an AMD or Superchips re-map would be fantastic for a car like yours.
  23. [ QUOTE ] Just had my GTI remap completed at AmD, and just to inform all those enthusiasts out there, the remap altered my cars bhp from 203 to 251 and the torque went up to 291ft/lbs.The result in performance it vast, the car accellerates much quicker through the gears, dont know what the top end is.The engine seems to have come to life. Traction control has to work very hard if the road surface is damp, turn it off and the front wheels spin franticlly. IMO the remap has turned the GTI into a true sporting hatchback. [/quote Sounds great. I got my A4 2.0T done with Superchips. Now has 250BHP and 240 foot pounds. Are you sure AMD got your Golf to 291 foot pounds. I thoought their Stage 1 remap added about 40 foot pounds, which would take it to just under 250.
  24. Just chacked out your link. They recommend Superchips for UK customers. I got my A4 2.0T re-mapped with Superchips about 3 months ago. Cost £500 and the car is a lot more responsive. The increase is over 40BHP and approx 40NM of extra torque. Would recommed. However I hear AMD are supposed to be the best in the UK.
  25. I got my A4 2.0T quattro done with Superchips about 3 months ago.(same engine as the new GTI.) It has made a tremendous amount of difference to the performance. It now has nearly 250BHP and over 320NM of Torque. It cost £500 and was well worth it. At a rough guess I reckon it is now good for 0-60 in about 6.2 secs and 0-100 in about 16 secs. (Alot faster than before) I also heard AMD were very good for remaps. If you want alot more power then go for it. I know it sounds a bit boy racerish but it is very satisfying knowing that you can pi*s all over 99% of other cars on the road
