RFredR32
Thanks to Gordon Brown and George Bush not being able to run there respective countries in terms of the economy, along with falling residual car values, aswell as someone starting a rumour that a R32 is a girls car I cancelled my order for my R32. As much as i think it is a sensible decision i was really looking forward to my road trip to Germany and the Nurburgring to pick up the R. With the fall in the Euro rate and uncertain times ahead it was working out cheaper to walk into a local dealer to buy the car. So until things improve there is going to be no R, as much as i want one, the road trip itself was the big seller, plus when it comes down to it 25k plus is a lot of money for a Golf, no offense guys . However I might consider actually buying a sorted MKIV instead. This was my old R for those who didnt see it I must admit it is tempting to go back. This is what i was driving before, during, and after the R And this what I have just bought to keep myself mobile. A seven year old 330i sport petrol automatic I think you will agree i seem to be going backwards. The only light at the end of the tunnel seems to be that i know have a deposit held with VW - Audi for a new RHD car so possibly if i rob a few banks, dont buy another R, and win the lottery i might be able to get a new RS4 in 2010. Thanks for looking and reading
khutula
Really sorry to read this Ross - I know you have been looking forward to the car and the journey. Go buy a MKIV and rejoin the fold you know it makes sense
N3WOB
There can't be too many Ross' that also owned a 32, even fewer who had Tornado Red! Not tsure the mark V is as handsome mind
Mook
No, I still don't get the Mk5 as much as I did the Mk4. Despite all the piss-taking Ross (kizdiz), that does look bloody good in red
BrakeSnake
Sorry to here that Ross, the pilgrimage alone to the 'Ring would have been worth it. Like you said tho, with the falling Euro it must have been rather irresponsible to continue. Still, as much as i'd like to get Turbo's etc done to the .:R, my next car is going to have to be a second hand RS4 next year. I really don't see oil prices improving, and with the current political climate on anti car owners as an excuse to reap in more 'environmental' tax, combined with the US signing the death knell of the bent V8... I do truly believe the years of owning a V8 in the UK, unless you're going to be rich, as very numbered. 8 cylinders is going to have to be done very soon.... RFredR32
Yes lost a fortune on it but you never really make money on any motor, it does hurt to look back at photos of it cause it was a stunning car. However some great times were had and managed to rack up a few miles in it.

RFredR32
No just as per signature with superchip including full milltek with manifolds which were heat wrapped, sounded awesome and pulled like a train. Lenny had a spin in it at one stage truly a awesome car will always be one of my favourites.

oldboy1
I feel for you mate, there's a genuine sadness in what you have written. I've had my MK IV over 2 years now and I love it . It's the first car I've somehow never been borred with. It maybe a little flat occasionally, but the next day (in an inexplicabley R32 way) will blow you away with a turn of speed and guts the has to be felt to be believed. Thats what I would miss, the character of the little beast!
Cuprabob
I like most people on here get bored of my cars pretty quickly and I'm always looking to what to get next but at the moment that's not the case because I really love my Mk5 R32 and even after 20 months of ownership I still look forward to driving it everyday even if it's just my routine commute to work. I know a diesel would be more economical, the £400 road tax this year is a pain and the resale value will probably take a big hit because of recent economical issues, I don't care as i understand I'll only be on this earth once Enjoy it while you can before they ban or tax out of existence anything that gives anyone fun

Cuprabob
I commute 120 mles a day, and a diesel would make much more sense but I just can't bring myself to do it. A Diesel TT or Scirocco might push me over the edge

Tonsko
I like the sound of this. I've had mine a year, still loving it. Will it turn into as much as a love affair as my G60 Edition 1? Only time will tell I guess!
