Bradmax57
Recently, my one touch shot on the drivers door has been a little hit and miss, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, today got in the car the interior lights were on when they should have dimmed down, now neither windows work, nor the electric mirrors, are these linked to the same fuse or relay? I cant see a fuse specifically for the windows or anything on the relays any ideas before I go and get shafted at the dealers

Bradmax57
I'll have to check that when I go back to work tomorrow as it would have been too bloody cold to drive back with window down, ill install a trial version of vagcom on lappy and see if i can see any fault codes, but ontop of that esp warning light is now on and dont work, gutted ontop of which i think my clutch is on its way out
paul_tdi
I had a similar problem on mine. It turned out to be a wire that runs between the door and main body had broken. Worth checking that when you lock the car that the door locks too.

PetrolDave
Look like there's a communication problem with the module in the drivers door. Try checking the connections/connectors in the area by the door hinges.

shark_90
It'll most likely be the earth wire in the rubber boot inbetween the door and the car body. I had to repair ChasDrury's for him. It had broken so cleanly it looked like someone had cut it with snips
Bradmax57
just phoned audi, gits charge £114 + vat just to diagnose it
Bradmax57
just felt the rubber boot, felt a snapped wire, so on further examination I guess this doesnt help!

shark_90
Actually looking at that again it looks like it's broken at the plug? Chas's had snapped about 1 inch down the wire.
Bradmax57
na the break was half way down the other bit of the brown wire is still in the door side of the boot
chasdrury
If you can't fix it yourself, and don't know anyone that can, I wouldn't take it to Audi! A decent auto electrician should be able to fix that for you... As mentioned, Shark did mine for me - in the dark and freezing cold it must be said!! shark_90
I can't remember how I did it. I think the bubber boot will bend back enough but it's a 2 man job.

paul_tdi
Same happened on mine, it was exactly the same wire as previously mentioned! It is do-able but as Shark has commented a lot better if you get 2 on the job. I actually soldered another bit of wire on rather than just try and join the two pieces. At least this way you can fix to the exposed wire, thread back thourgh the rubber tubing, trim as required and then attach to the other end.Good luck!
