JonC
It was laser blue which was discontinued in 1995 Is that the colour that some GTI drivers who have the colour, call DBP?
Tarmac_Terrorist
Yes I think so. Laser blue is nice but DBP is really nice Unless DBP is available in the GTI in Europe, in which case some imports could potentially be in DBP.
Mook
AFAIK, DBP (deep blue pearl) is only available on the R cars - Golf R32 and Passat R36.
nutkins
Someone on here had/has a MK5 GTI in Deep Blue Pearl. Got it through select Automtive (import) IIRC.
Mook
Def an import as it's not a standard UK colour on the Mk5

Mind you, would have to see it to believe it.

Snoopy
There is a few Deep blue pearl (DBP) GTIs about as select automotive made it an option on the GTI on there drop down menu when ordering as they got so many requests for it. It was a special order colour from germany. There was quiet a few other colours available as imports on the mk5 too i have listed them in the past on here. Lazer blue sort of ended in 55 reg cars ~2005. Shadow blue was avaialble to the end of mk5 production and is also a mk6 colour in the uk. I still think the mk6 is a grower but if VWuk do to the stock they have of the mk5 GTI what they did with the R32 to clear them, then there is no contest for me it will be a knockdown price mk5 GTI. I think it's the best blue there is - On any Golf version.

RedRobin
I'm still here, and so is my DBP GTI - 3 years on ....Aha!! Good to hear from you! I've just changed those open grille fog panels you very kindly got for me. Changed to carbonfibre to better house my Hella DRL LED lights.

Mook
Have you ever thought about stopping spending money on cosmetic mods for that thing? Or is that just a stupid question?
RedRobin
^^^^ I thought I'd stopped modding over a year ago! But Quaife, VWR-KW-V3 bespoke suspension etc etc. Engine mount next. I didn't plan on buying the Recaros but I wasn't going to miss the opportunity for a second time. Besides, they do make a heck of a difference to driving. I don't know the detail but methinks that you are busy modding a GTI thing of some sort - Non? We seem to have gone way off topic, but the Mk6 GTI isn't that exciting (unless you plaster it with carbonfibre bits).
Tarmac_Terrorist
I had an email from some part supplier the other day advising me that those piano black bits between the door window and rear side window are now available in carbon fibre......but I suppose you've already got those RR?? Add-on carbonfibre parts for the B-pillars have been available for a long time. Not my thing.

Muppetboy
Great spot there Drewcam! Fecking hate tinted windows, as far as I remember they are standard on the MkVI? RR> When the feck did you change your seats? Must have missed that!
silentandy
on topic, I like pretty much everything about the MkVI apart from the rear lights, something which seems to be the general consensus? Hopefully someone will bring out some decent aftermarket replacements soon!
