Nelson_R32 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Share Posted October 18, 2008 Yup, it's because VW UK had 500 left in stock and instead of waiting a few months for them to clear they decided to knock some money off the base price to the Dealer. Hence the market being a little overstocked at the moment. There are also some seriously rediculously good lease deals going at the moment. Its a lame excuse of a GTI.I might start a war here but I dont care, its a stupid edition and one I cant see being that popular now...and years to come. Its just not that good looking IMO. Yes I agree with you. I looked at the 'Pirelli' and thought it a bit gimicky.I plumped for the ED30 and i think the interlagos/leather is great. Only had it for 1 month now but absolutely thrilled with it. Are these labels going out to original purchasers only do you know as said i've only had mine a month, originally a VW car !!! But, I can see someone turning up in 25 years time to a VW event with a mint Pirelli edition, it's gonna get attention for i's rarity alone. By then tyre prints on the seats will not be such an issue on a 20 year old 'modern classic'. wagonboy Posted November 6, 2008 Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 Just so you know VW are supposedly giving us a plaque with the build number of the car on, pics belowIllustrating size and look of plaque Location of where plaque is to be positioned - base of A pillar on door trim The plaques are now waiting for sign off by Managing Director of Volkswagen Group, which will hopefully be next week. They will then be distributed directly to owners. Pics/ post courtesy of nathan (Greenouse) Anybody had theirs yet. CJ92 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Share Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) If it bores you why read it !I will tell you why!I have been involved with vw customer services since Dec 07, when it was first hinted that vw had exceeded the 1500 units for the uk market.To say vw were not very forthcoming on this issue is an understatement imho.As you know it was only constant petition from other Ed30 owners that made vw eventually own up to the over run of 800 units.The subsequent farce that has followed with regard to the plaques, is imo somewhat of a shambles, hence my comment of the matter becoming rather a bore.I hope this may clarify as to why i read your post and giving my opinion..
