rottenbend
Did about 150 miles today. OBC says 56.4!Although not as smooth as the 325d, I think the 320d is making a strong case for its self. I feel a 320d M Sport order coming on. Just filled up tonight - got over 700 miles from a tank.
gizze
Manuals in the new 2.0 litre diesel are pretty amazing economy wise.

rottenbend
hi-fi audio ok, or will I regret not getting logic7? It's better than the standard system (which isn't hard!) - mine was a second-hand purchase. I think if I was going to pay the extra new, I would try and stretch to the Logic 7. Easy to say when it's not my money Are you going to get the USB interface?
edo
thanks. I can stretch to Logic 7 (and prof media and heated seats) but couldnt have anything else on a 320d M. Not bothering with usb - Happy I can suck music of cd's onto the hdd. I want to see what the usb connector in the glove-box will allow too.... Not fussed about control so long as I can get some music onto the hdd.

I think factory orders will take 4-6 weeks, maybe here for xmas. Which interior leather did you go for? Can't see Platinum Bronze on the configurator... edo
Thanks. No, sorry the platinum Bronze is the mingy colour of my temp lease 520d. Gone for standard alcantara, which I really like. Nice and grippy.
edo
Dealer rekons late Jan :-( They have said they will check stocks, but with Logic7, I find it highly unlikely anything will be in stock.
Biscuits
If they find a stock car... I would go for the jugular and get a discount sorted. Great spec and I really like the standard MSport interior, if I was buying new i'd not upgrade to leather either. Only option I would have gone for as you've got iDrive is a USB interface, but with the new iDrive having a HDD, there's no need anymore.
edo
Budget maxed!! There is a USB port in the glove-box - not sure what works with this. It ignored my USB hard drive.
davyk31
I would drop the heated seats as they are not needed with a cloth interior and spend the budget on something else. Maybe sun pro glass in the rear looks good with the Lemans Blue.
gizze
Agreed, heated seats are a waste of time with that trim. Order the Lumbar though, essential. Lumbar support for driver and front passenger £

davyk31
Why the 320d rather than the silky 6 cylinder 325d ?
Mook
Avant_B6_130 runs a 320d M Sport and it's a great car - once you're on the motorway cruising, you wouldn't know the difference, until you floor it, but you don't get much chance to do that theses days I guess the extra fuel consumption and cost of the 325d couldn't be offset against the smoother 6 cylinder. edo
Why the 320d rather than the silky 6 cylinder 325d ? Close call, but 325d would have been SE, although I could have got prof Media, and sports seats, but no Logic 7, and flat black. At the end of the day, whilst the 325d is a bit pokier and smoother, as said above you cant tell the difference on the motorway, the BIK is higher, you lose the M sport (improved) looks, shorter gear throw and sports suspension/damping. I do also have the luxury of a sports caar for fun/track days, and my fiancee has a 130i....
davyk31
Oh right did not realise the 325 was an SE as your test car I thought was an M Sport. I would always choose the looks and handling of the M Sport over an SE so I guess I would have made the same choice. The latest 320d engines are superb and very economical, and thats something for me to say as a petrol head!
edo
yup, average mpg after 3 days making no attempt to be economical (50/50 mix of a/b and Motorway) of 53mpg. Can't really compain!
