330dcoupe
Evening all... Well, I sold the Cupra today, so was wondering if you lot could help me choose a nice GTI to replace it with. There's quite a few for sale within the bracket I'm looking at (9-10k) I have 9 cash, so will try and not offer any more than that. (so please consider haggling) There's a nice lazer Blue one for sale on t'net - Autotrader - but sounds dodgy to me. 55 plate with only 40 on the clock for 9,500. Auto Trader UK - VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2.0 GTI 5dr TURBO 200BHP or there's this white one: Auto Trader UK - VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2.0 GTi 3dr Hatchback or this black one, but it's very basic. Auto Trader UK - VOLKSWAGEN Golf 2.0 GTI thanks you in advance.
edo
er, how shiny is the steering wheel on that first car? I dont think so. Car 2 looks a nice spec if quite high on miles. I guess it depends on how long you are going to keep it? Car 3, again a lot of miles depending on how long you will keep the car. 330dcoupe
Planning on keeping the car for about 9months to a year. So high miles aren't a problem (no more that 65k) so you reckon that blue one is a little dodgy? it is being sold in Birmingham - say's it all
edo
The fact that you are keeping only 9 months would mean (IMO) you should go for lower miles. If you where keeping for a longer period and doing low miles it might average down. I think if you buy at 65k, put 5k on, you'll be having a hard time shifting it with 70+k on it. edo
Ps - 40k and a steering wheel like that for the first car? I wouldnt bother looking at it.
theduisbergkid
Have your driven one 330dcoupe ? I was looking for something similar earlier this year and I was rather diappointed with one I drove at a local main dealer. I think I'm in a minority, but I was underwhelmed by the whole package, esp the handling. Also, earlier ones are more likely to have build niggles, so be v picky when you're viewing. Good luck in your hunt.

Good luck in your hunt. I haven't mate - just going by it's rave reviews. Tbh, the package as a whole is what's attracting me to it at the moment - boot space, leg space, comfort, economy and power. I know it will be nowhere near as quick as what most people make it out to be - but it'll be plenty, for now. I'm trying to get a test drive at the moment, but i find, as soon as i do take one from a dealership - they never get off your back, about buying it. I really could do without one of them nagging me - got enough on my plate at the moment. I called the dealer re. the blue one. I've had to call him 4 times today, as he's not calling me back with info which i've requested (reg, miles and address of where it was last serviced) even though he's told me he would after 10 mins, each time. He got a bit funny when i requested for a chassis number from him. Does he have something to hide?
edo
Run forest, run. Seriously, unless the light has caught it funny, that isnt a 40k steering wheel. Personally, if a garage cant be arsed to call back when they say, I dont buy from there. Why? Not just because it is common courtesy, but because if they wont call when they have the possibility of SELLING you a car - what hope do you have if you buy it and have an issue? Plenty out there. next. On a general comment, I had a Gtdi with DSG for 10k or so, and found it a very complete car. Initially mine was chipped (about 220-230 I was told) but then it got lost during a reflash, and although noticably slower - I didnt bother changing it back. Mine had cloth seats and I felt the interior cheap - might be worth looking at the 2.0T A3 too. My only complaint was the seat side bolster wore/collapsed - so check for that. edo
You're a cash buyer, end of the month. Makes some calls, make some silly offers ("I'm a cash buyer, I'll give you a deposit today, over the phone, what is your best price"). theduisbergkid
As mentioned, there are loads about, so be very picky... Cash buyer means you're in a strong position too. Good luck. Oh, I think Booster has a nice A3 2.0t he's looking to get shot of, worth a look ?
330dcoupe
Well, I'm pleased to tell y'all - I'm picking my new car up tomorrow. Found a Black, 5 door, 55 plate, 50k miles, a few extra's (only 17'' alloys though), totally emaculate - for a shade over £9.5k. I've had the car checked out - nothing out of place, full vw service history (just had a service done at 47k miles) I think I've done well on the price. I also get a full tank of fuel - In return, I have to take him a home made curry

Worth giving it a good going over when you pick it up and VW can pick up the tab for any niggles you find while/if its still covered. Hope you enjoy it. 330dcoupe
55 Plate - Is it still under warranty ? Worth giving it a good going over when you pick it up and VW can pick up the tab for any niggles you find while/if its still covered. Hope you enjoy it. Well, have had my car for a few hours now and have clocked over 300 miles in it. First impressions are good. Very Good, in fact. Actually quite surprised at how quick it is, in standard for. Not blinding quick, mind you, as some would lead us to believe - but quick enough. The car's handling, lack of body roll and ride comfort is what's surprised me the most about the GTI. The car is immaculate - apart from one scrape on the passenger side from alloy. The inside looks like it's never been used. I'll get a review and some pictures up of it, as soon as I get a bit of time. Cheers for all your help.
