Where is everybody?

Its often the way that when a new model is launched that things go all crazy and then calm down again this forum in particular is no different.

But as above is people don't post and always expect someone else to start something then nothing will. This is a free forum for everyone to take advantage of.

And people will have moved onto other cars as well. Come over to the Lounge of Joy or General cars for some great banter.+++

Come on all you closet GTI drivers. :bike:

TsN used to have pockets of people living in one place - the GTI forum was one of the best/worst offenders. The R32 forum was the same. Now there tends to be more people across more of the forums, which, IMO, is a good thing - it's become more of a place of performance car banter, with expertise for specific makes and models always being on tap when it's needed.

There's a big presence in the A8/S8 forum, presumably because there's not a standalone forum.

Blimey, I managed another day at over 275... :P

and no doubt still returning 40mpg :roflmao:

Don't go there! I was getting 26 average, or 27 on a long run. I changed the mapping on Sunday so the turbo doesn't punch your kidneys out at 4,000 rpm and went up to London today (mostly motorway). Average? 20...

Still the fastest car on the motorway though :roflmao:

Blimey, no posts in here for 4-5 days! Has everyone sold their GTI or bored of them?

Far from it. I've been away for a few days and off for some more yet, but managed to get on to the web, here in a small village library in Suffolk. Bless, it only has the one PC. Had to book my session yesterday! Thought I'd see more posts though. My beloved GTI is tucked up nice and secure in a garage at home and I sure am missing her...

Now that's impressive - time away and 'booking' time the folowing day to get on a PC to visit TSN.

Are the locals crowding round you to see 'how you work that telly thing' in the corner of their village library

I think most have "defected" to Mk5 General Area

....Which is a recent breakaway from another UK based GTI forum. Strangely enough, it broke away partly prompted by other areas of the site complaining about Mk5 guys never leaving their forum. It seems to be something which Mk5 people have a strong tendency to do. It's not a concious decision but just happens.

It's a bit of a vicious circle - If there aren't many topics or posts, there is less to keep you in a forum. It's naturally more encouraging to post new topics where there is most response and activity.

Personally, I prefer not to duplicate every topic I create on three different GTI sites.

Compared to here, owners do much more modding of their Mk5 GTI's in the new forum. It's not a criticism but just the way it is.

I don't love TSN any less - It's just evolution.

None of these other sites have the breadth and depth of Tyresmoke though.
