Booster
Our Symantec AV software is coming up for renewal soon. Any thoughts on an alternative software?
Mook
We run Kaspersky within one domain and it works fine and it's quite a bit cheaper than Symantec Kaspersky Lab: Antivirus software
nordberg
We're a CA reseller and use Etrust 8.1 on 2003 servers. To be honest and candid, it's utter sh!te - but then I've yet to come across any AV software that isn't. The last time I looked at Symantec, it was even worse than Etrust. The yanks are big on Trend AV which seems to tick all the boxes. I haven't had much hands on experience of it, but we'll be doing a lot of research after Christmas and weighing up the competition. Hopsta
Just a 2003 box or does it host exchange aswell?
Teacake
We're getting fairly fed up with Sophos, so are considering Kaspersky or NOD32 at the moment.
Booster
Just a 2003 box or does it host exchange aswell? Just 2003. Our software package supplier are recommending Avast. They aren't a reseller and have told me to buy direct so nothing in it for them and they really rate it.
RobK
I'm currently using AVK 2009 on my server as it came top for detection rates in the latest Virus Bulletin test. It did a good job clearing up a persistent trojan that had got onto the system previously. The user interface is pretty basic though, plus when you click on virus name for more information it's all in German!
RobK
Incidentally I think it's very annoying the way the prices for server versions are about 10x the normal ones, when it's essentially the same software. Not everyone running a server is a corporation!

Mac
I used to swear by AVG but after some high-profile screw ups (such as AVG virus scanner removes critical Windows file | Security and the Net) I won't touch it with someone else's
