Here we go!

Renault have started with spin about increasing production of some models..........then in a few months they will slow or stop production BUT will not move the jobs back!!!

Renault is to increase production of its Twingo and Clio Campus models, the company announced today.

The move follows strong sales of both the Renault Twingo, which was the second best selling car in France in February, and the Clio Campus, a midly restyled version of the previous-generation Clio.

The decision will mean the creation of 400 jobs, as production of the Renault Clio Campus will switch from Renault’s Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia to the company’s Flins factory west of Paris.

The news was greeted with alarm by the EU's competition commissioner Neelie Croes, however. Croes told BBC Radio 4's World at One show that she was "highly surprised" at Renault's decision and that, if it meant the moving of jobs from Slovenia to France, it could contravene EU rules.

Both Renault and the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, denied that the news would mean job losses for Slovenia.

Renault said that it took the decision because the Novo Mesto plant was running at capacity, while Sarkozy said: "This is not about cutting jobs in Slovenia. It doesn't take a single job from our Slovenian friends and it increases jobs for Flins."

The excess capacity at Novo Mesto will allow Renault to increase production of the Twingo, while Flins will produce around 8000 Clio Campus models between June and October.

Ah yes, the Twingo - that excellent little shed of sh*t.

And the Clio Campus. So that'll be the old shape Clio with some new stickers on.

They never give up the French, do they :roflmao:

And Rich, you know you love that Renault. Yes, you do. And don't you go denying it. Oh no...

The original Twingo was a hoot to drive, reminded me of the original Mini, not much to shout about from Pierre since then....

Having had most of the current Renault Range they have been very very reliable.

The Megane R26 was amazing on track, the current Clio 197 can show up many much more expensive cars and they are always in the top 5 on the jurnos list.

However the new stuff they are bringing out is rubbish, the new megane is so dull its unreal, the laguna is awful they just need to get there arse in gear and design cool cars again like the orginal clio, twingo etc.

Sorry, Matty, there should have been a caveat ot the statement. WIth the exception of the hot Clios and Meganes, all Renaults are generally not very good...

Um, in my experience, the Clio 172 is crap as well, Salami had one, most over-rated piece of toss I've ever driven.

Oh, for those how know him, Salami had a major off at Mallory yesterday and is in Hospital having his bones all put back together. :(
