rjgreen4
Woke @ 5am to hear door bell going, went down stairs to find police @ the front door. Went into the kitchen to get front door keys from drawer, to find the kitchen windows open, drawers open and the place a mess. Shouted up to my other half to throw spare set of front door keys, opened the front door to be asked if I owned xxx type car, reg xxxx, I said yes, It seems that they had broken in, had a mooch around, nicked a few things and found the car keys, stole the car, smashed it into the wall @ chester zoo and torched it. Had laptop and keys to other cars upstairs. the worst part about it was that they had got our kitchen knives out and appeared to have armed themselves with the knives incase of confrontation. One other point that makes us sick is that my otherhalf was 32wk pregnant at the time and we had loaded her car a couple of days before with all of her book from medical school for the porter to put in her new office, there was also 4 years worth of medical journals that went up in flames. The best part about it was that they stole her Fendi handbag, emptied the contents and threw the bag out of the window 20m down our drive- FFS it was a £400 handbag, probably used to lacoste + burberry - effin chavs!!!!! Had cctv fitted, however still wake three of four times a night - hate it at the moment!!

Busby
Holy sh1t mate Good news is that you're all ok - shaken up, but ok. Everything else that's gone can be replaced but with the wife being 32 weeks in, be thankful you didn't hear them. Good move with the CCTV - get some really good window locks too. The other thing we do is arm the house alarm just for downstairs when we go to bed. Failing that get a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy to grow up with the new arrival - give it six months and anyone that sees him through the window will move on swiftly enough Really sorry to hear about this buddy - keep your chin up and think of all the great things you and the wife have coming over the next few months. Karma will weave its magic and the thieving little cnuts will get what's coming to them.

cruiser647
Why do people do that? What the feck did they get from it? A drive of a car - which they trashed. Smashed your windows chucked out the valuable stuff.........  Glad you were both sound asleep. I thought you were in a decent area too? Very bad news about all the stuff in the car. Get the stuff fixed, better locks, an alarm and look forward to 8 weeks time! Anything on the CCTV?
Chris_B
Oh feck RJ, sorry to hear that mate - hope you & your other half are both OK. Here's hoping something very unpleasant befalls the little sh1ts who did this.

Get the stuff fixed, better locks, an alarm and look forward to 8 weeks time! Anything on the CCTV? yes, area is suppoed to be nice with average house price for the postcode being £450k+, had the cameras fitted this week to mainly act as a warning that if they come close that they will be on film. To be honest the whole incident happened at the end of july, baby is about to pop out. still struggling to sleep. Have an alarm however was off, which i suppose was a good thing as i would have rushed downstairs and faced them. Also, when i took out my house and contents policy i had said we had no alarm, subsequently had not updated it so can claim for the books etc. Car claim was ok, ended up doing ok with the car got £800 more than book value after excess paid. One of other scary thoughts is that they could have come upstairs and we would not have known about it, plus we have a 4 year old who was sleeping at the other end of the house. One of my neighbours was burgled a week or two later, worse than mine, x3 males smashed the patio window, ran upstairs with crowbars and threatened to kill them for the keys to the S3. What they didn't know is that there is a new skyline in the garage.
Scotty
That's terrible. It sounds like you're posting about something that happened a little while back. How long ago was it? How's the Mrs in her delicate condition? Best wishes to you both. I hope the feckers get their comeuppance
CarMad
Glad you are all OK which is the main thing but can understand that it has shaken you up. We arm the house and leave the keys downstairs, in the hope they either might get scared off or if they want the cars, they take them and bugger off. Hope things improve and you get more sleep and things settle down.

SINGH
Sorry to hear about this, now you have a baby on the way your probably going to have sleepless lights for a different reason! Hope the police catch the scumbags who done it, is your alarm visible from your house? I have seen some dumby ADT boxes that flash lights on sale on eBay which would work as a good deterrent. theduisbergkid
Sorry to read this RJGreen4, not good news ! Glad your insurance was OK and that you weren't harmed, metal is just metal, hope you get over this OK, good luck !
cabby
As per other posters really sorry to hear your news and hope you and your wife are all OK. There was a burglary nearby recently and that has been enough to make us think a bit more about checking doors and windows are locked. As well as alarms, cctv etc. I think the best piece of mind might be had in a dog! Something that will make lots of noise if someone disturbs it and give rip their arms off. Hope all becomes a distant memory soon.
