richy_uk
My most embarassing was something I could never comment on at the time as my folks bought it for me. A real chicks motor if there ever was one. 1989 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Popular. It was white with the bumpers and mirrors sprayed white too. It even had the optional passenger side wing mirror. I then proceeded to buy bits from Ford to turn it into a Popular Plus with luxuries such as rear wash wipe, which amazingly, I fitted myself. The icing on the cake was my Alpine stereo. Six speaker and 2 high powered amps. If I turned on the engine, put all the lights on and put the wipers on, then cranked the stereo up, the car would stall as the alternator wasn't powerful enough to cope with the load. I traded it in for a Renault Clio knowing the engine was due to expire (wouldn't go above 60 downhill). The Renault dealer sold it on, then I'm sure I saw it at a scrap merchants 6 months later, obviously the replacement engine was worth more than the car. RIP G882 GEP. MartzA3
Mine...................... a Ford Fiesta 1.1L. I bought it because it was pissing down and I did'nt want to get wet. So I bought my heap. Custard Yellow. I decided to put spot lights and SuperSport wheels on it. It looked awful. I lost 2nd and 4th gear within 6 months and then it died...........THE END. MartzA3
BTW Ari, I like those old Capri's. I had a Dark Blue 2.0S with with racing stripes down the centre and sexy recaros. It was a little gem!
Frodo
My first pride and joy was a Vauxhall Chevette in a rather dashing Gold. Lost synchro on second gear so had to learn to double-the-clutch. Had many a happy hour running around the countryside of Oxfordshire, trips to Alton Towers and down to various coastal resorts. Ended up blowing the engine and getting it taken to a scrap yard on the back of a trailer. Are happy days

Preferably a black one. I'll find some photos of my other Capri's and scan them in later...
Ari
Here ya go, what about this fine ship? My Capri MKiii 1600GL. Beautiful "of the 70's" gold with contrasting black vinyl roof and the obligatory slot mags.
RS4_Barry
a blue mini city x automatic which I inherited from my grandfather. Would have been ok if it was a manual but painfully slow as an auto!!!

SneakyMcC
I recon TonyD got it so far with his all-agro but I'll try to run him a close 2nd. In about the early 90's the wife use to sell fords and I asked her to look out for an old run around from amongst the trade-in's. She got me an old Mk5 Cortina! (it was a 1 owner 50k mls). When that was expiring (1994)I asked her for an estate in the same way. She got me a beige Cortina Crusader est. Wood cappings on the door/brown velour trim, the lot This thing was mint. 1 owner from new 60k. I took off the seat covers expecting it to have fag burns and stains all over them but they were like new!! The only prob was it smoked like fook and the discs were so badly warped you couldn't brake from over 60mph because you vision was so blurrrrrd
MGaljaardt
Reckon I could be in with a winner here.... The year is 1991, and in a moment of horrible madness I swapped my perfectly reasonable Vauxhall Chevette for a chocolate brown, Morris Ital !! If you can't picture this beauty, think ugly like an old volvo, and your on the right track. The bent front wishbones on this baby meant I couldn't safely take it over about 45mph, which gave everyone plenty of time to take in the larvly zebra stripe seat covers and appreciate the full extent of the "iron oxide induced ventilation points" throughout the body work... ahhh it takes me back..... May as well give up now after that Ital confession!

It was a Scraped all my knuckles and bruised several limbs. The kit should have had a health warning. I bet we both got more satisfaction out of the Alpine kit though. Foggy
First car was a 1974 metallic brown 1.3 Escort GLX estate although Ford did put the 'Mexico' dashboard in it. It was so light at the back that if you cornered too hard it would spin. Had to drive about 10 miles home in second once when the gearstick literally came out in my hand whilst changing up
