Anyone having any problems connecting to Crashplan Central (their online backup service)?

Everything has been going swimmingly until today. Now it's having connection issues.

Nothing has changed my end.

Edit: I've just tried to access their support site and it's timing out.

I've tried rebooting the PC - no change.

I've tried restarting Crashplan - no change.

The backup destination is listed as: atlb2.crashplan.com:443

Is there a status page for their servers (or whatever you refer to them as)? /me looks

I'm not too worried at the moment, but the worst thing is not knowing if it's something I need to do my end, e.g. reconfigure my router/firewall, or it's their end and I just need to wait it out. I've been reading about how CP can be working one minute and then without the user making any changes, can stop working the next. CP updates and sometimes router/firewall dont like it and block it.

I've not gone with them yet, its hard to understand how they can make money though, $139 for 4 years for unlimited storage and then pay for the bandwidth and backups of the data.... MMmmm.

This is probably why Mozy(EMC isn't it now) decided to pull the unlimited plan.

I might however use the free version to backup to my Dad and him to my for free, just about as good and no ongoing cost really for me. I will still have the data in 3 different places one offsite and neither of us will throttle each other. +++

I'm really liking this software. It's finished the backup of my user files on C: drive of this PC. I now have it backing up the data that's on my NAS, well, indirectly. I backup my NAS to USB HDD and I'm backing that up to Crashplan Central. The only thing is it's going to take 80 days.:grin:

I have my laptop running with the free version and that's backing up to a mirrored drive on this PC.

I also have my dad backing up his PC to the same mirrored drive on my PC.

It'd be nice if Crashplan backed up it's own backup files, but then I suppose that would result in people without subscriptions, like my dad, getting 'free' online backups. (Me backing up his backup to the cloud.)
