Dave
I have to agree with the majority. I can't see why I would want to part with £40k of my hard earned for an A3 which is just about to be replaced with the new model. I expect the new model to be lighter, more fuel efficient and handle better. Audi have officially released pictures of the new model, so the old version must have it's days limited. I suppose it's all about the Rs badge and having had an Rs I can see the appeal, bt once you get over the sports aspect Audi make some great cars. My Q7 is a million miles from an Rs car, but I love it.
Daz
But isn't that true for all the RS models though - they all appear at the end of the model life cycle.
Dave
Yes Daz, it seems to be the way the Rs badge works.. I suppose it 'pushes' the end of the line for a particular range. If someone gave me a Rs3, or I had enough money not to worry, then I wouldn't turn it down, but when you have to stump up forty k of your own money it brings home just his much audi are asking now. Forty k got you into the original rs4 , so I think it's a little steep for the A3 version
Daz
Yeah but I remember when I spec'ed up a new S3 back in 2000 and that came to about £32k (Audi did drop the base price by about £3k shortly afterwards)

garcon magnifique
But isn't that true for all the RS models though - they all appear at the end of the model life cycle. Yes, and I've never understood why, except that it confirms to me that Audi aren't a performance car manufacturer.
SINGH
It depends what factors you consider make a performance car. The latest RS 6 was a twin turbo 5.0 V10 so they certainly have the speed. I think speed is the first thing people think of when you mention performance car. I mean my 320D could out handle a RS 6 but if I called it a performance car you'd all think I was as delusional as Flynn. Dave
I wouldn't of called my Rs6 a performance car, possibly because I was fortunate to own one at the time. It was quick, there was no denying that, but by god, did it understeer? Many a time when pressing on did I sh!t my pants when going round a corner too fast! Nowadays I would call a performance car a lotus, or a 911, but these 'super' saloons like Rs6, M5 etc.. No, nice as they are to have they don't say performance car to me.
