RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

Hi...I`am not sure what colour car you`v specced...but the panoramic sun-roof on the Sportback looks ace...especially on silver or white cars....and I`am sure the same could be said for Suzuka grey...IMO it makes the car look longer and sleeker....So it`s not only practical but improves the aesthetics as well....It does seem a bit strange if you can`t spec it for UK RS3`s....as I`v seen a number of higher spec Sportbacks with a Panoramic roof...so Audi must be aware this option has some appeal in the UK....especially with punters who are buying the more expensive A3 sportback derivatives.

Cheers Mr Man, my colour choice is Suzuka Grey. Never thought about the panoramic roof good tip...+++

Latest update on my particular order "Suzuka Grey"

Factory have still not released this particular colour as yet, apparently earliest build confirmation, where this colour is concerned, will be end of August, with earliest possible supply, being November, in other words probably Q1 2012, if I change colour to anything else, then Car will definitely be November

Ash, my dealer has been quoting me Q2 2012, Steering wheel to be changed just waiting on the colour issue as they don't specify black in the exclusive colour chart...but I want it all to match up, so cannot understand why you'd specify black nappa leather Recaros and then decide to add some exlcusive additions to the interior and be told any colour but not black....

It's with the R8 team at present.

Sunroof/Panoramic roof no go....:o

Sounds like typical audi intransigence Wayne, like the fact that ally roof bars could not be ordered with ali styling pack, only black ???

have you lined up a test drive yet? South Hereford looks like my best bet at the mo

Umm...I`d stick with Susuka Grey...+privacy glass and Black pack....Susuka really suits the RS3 lines.....It`s a shame there are`t more colour options for the leather seats....without having to go down the Audi exclusive route.....Personally I`v always loved the A3`s understated looks........even bought one in 2005....and I`am a fan of the interior as well....However what still amazes me is that Audi have decided to launch this car now.....Now I`am not in the same leaque as Garcon or Tipex when it comes to the RS3....but this model variant was launched in 2004.....face-lift in 2005 gave us the now familiar Audi Grill...but the current A3 will be 7yrs old when you guys take delivery.......Why do Audi fookin do this with their RS models....Anyway...I hope it`s worth the wait......Oh...and if I had to choose between an M1 and an RS3....the RS3 would win.....However if I was in the market for a small, fast and reasonably practical car...I`d get a 135i coupe....and if I needed to carry 4 adults....umm...what would I get...Oh yea...a Jaguar XF:grin:

Q2 next year? Isn't the new A3 going to be out then?

Please do not berate me for asking the question. (I'm one of you [does secret Audi fan handshake that Garçon does not know]).

Not all fella, yeah next year, not to bothered about the wait as the A6 SLINE SE value will have levelled off by then too...

Mr Man, gonna stick with the Suzaka Grey colour and the options i originaly specced.

The Roof bars are poor, really disappointed with them, seen one with them on, will try and get the pics posted and posted to Ash as well, but working nights this week, time at home is short.

The ali roof bars have disappeared from the option list altogether. They only appeared in the first edition of the brochure, item 3S3 I think.

Not bothered about the new A3 platform, it will be packed with things I detest, like auto start stop etc, besides which if the RS3 is as good, as a few people I know, who have actually driven one, have stated, then it will be a keeper, that is why I went for the 5 year warranty for a few extra quid, besides which, personally it is time, to get off the new model every couple of years thing, as I cant be doing with all the money it costs, to do so anymore, I'll take up changing my house every year, I know which would be cheaper!

Oh I'm pretty sure Garçon does know, he just chooses not to touch other mens willies!

Btw, I've said it before, and I've no doubt I'll say it again, but, I am (and i'm fairly sure Garçon is) actually an Audi fan, I just feel they have lost their way in recent years, I really like the S8, the shape they had on Top Gear pulling the train, I'm very impressed by the R8, although If I was spending that sort of money, I'd want something more interesting looking, and I'm actually quite liking the A7 more and more now I've seen one in the flesh.

My problem is, that since they went brave with the original TT (which I've never actually liked, but admired them for bringing to market), they've just turned out so much dross, the A3, the A4 and the A6, the staple backbone of their range, are just so poor given the competition I just cannot understand why anyone would buy one, the A1 is massively flawed, both in who it's target market is, and the actual car itself is so poorly designed you wonder how it was ever signed off.

As for the Q range, well I'm not a fan of that type of vehicle no matter who makes it.

Tipex, that has to be the worst and most insincere "impression" of an Audi fan, since Clarkson, "Started" admiring Porsches all of a sudden.

With out trying to de-rail this thread...Tipex, what's wrong with the A1, I've had the use of 2 in past two weeks and I can say I've been really pleased with them I'd certainly have one sat in my garage rather than a Mini or Polo (just 2 small cars that readily spring to mind) The current one has the Media interior with leather seats and 1.4 TFSI engine. My wife is seriously considering getting rid the the S3 for one (not if I have my way:p) .

I've owned two Audi's, does that qualify me? and I fully intend to own a 20v UR Quattro one day, one of my mates has a very nice one, that he's trying to sell me, but it's only a ten valve.

If I see something I don't like, I'll say, I have no allegiance to any brand whatsoever, I just happen to have owned two Fords in a row, which is why everyone seems to think I'm a Ford man, which I'm not, I can absolutely guarantee I've personally owned more cars of more different makes than almost anyone on here, and thats not taking our cab fleet into consideration, I can't even remember half of the cars I've owned over the years.

Well, just to start with, open the boot. after you've got past the two huge dogging lamps (can't see what other purpose that design would have?), doesn't the boot look suspiciously small?

Particularly the depth, there isn't any, lift the floor, and you'll notice the false floor sits on very thick rails, making it much higher than it needs to be, then you'll notice a spare wheel well, but no spare wheel, the reason? because it's got the battery in the middle of it, a particularly small, but very tall battery at that, that sticks up well above the spare wheel well, hence the need for the floor to be raised so high.

So why is it like that? the only reasons I can think of, is they cocked up and couldn't find anywhere else to put the battery, so ditched the spare wheel, or, it's a cynical ploy by Audi to sell you a very expensive spare wheel, that is dealer fit only, as it requires a battery relocation kit.

Yes noticed that, but there again most manufacturers seem to be doing this, VX with my Vectra VXR, VW with the MK4 R32, no wheel at all just a get home kit, VW R32 mk5, again no wheel, but my Edition 30 GTI did have a space saver as did Mrs Choppers VW Polo GTI. Must admit not checked Mrs C's S3 but the A6 does have have a matching 19" space alloy and a fecking great big battery in the boot.

Oh and can beat you on the Ford ownership, have owned 6 RS's Escorts one after the other... RS Escort Cosworth being the last, although did put a deposit down on a RS Focus last year but had second thoughts...Wife had 3 Fiesta's then 3 VW Polo's and now the S3.

But getting back to the A1 even my next door neighbour who has owned Mini's has said how nice the A1 is. ;)

Again although it seems like it, we again don't have any brand allegance, well certainly not with VW anymore...:ffs:

Thing is, all those others you mention, have the capacity for a spare wheel or space saver, but in the A1, they taunt you with a fully formed wheel well, that you can't put a wheel in, because the battery is in it!

My Galaxy doesn't have a spare, just a 'get you home kit' but at least it doesn't have a hole to put one in that you can't use!

Personally, it fecks me off that most manufacturers are going down that route, it should be made law that cars have to have a spare, as the 'get you home' kits simply do

not work in 99% of all flat tyre situations.

99% come one don't be ott, they don't work in a lot of situations but it's easily more than half. Fair enought they won't work with a slash or a blow out but a nail through the tire they'll do the job and thats most the majority of punctures I'd have thought.

I agree though, I hate the damn things...

No spare wheel equals less weight, equals less CO2 emissions, equals less cost to the manufacturer, not hard to work out really.

My new T6 Kombi 180HP, came with no spare wheel, or even carrier frame, so I played holy mother, and they fitted one at a cost of £500 all in would you believe? not that I paid, I buy to many company vans for them to pull that.

Comparing a T6 to my T5, they have stripped off loads of stuff, to save money and weight, even down to the battery cover FFS.

This is exactly why I am not fussed about the new model A3, it will be going down the same route, less for even more money

I know that's why they do it, doesn't make it right though, it's a safety item as far as I'm concerned, and they know most people won't check for a spare when they look at a new car, why not ditch the electric windows or stereo or example? It would achieve the same effect, and its because people would notice.

Still off topic, but at least I didn't start it this time...

I've finally realised what's been bugging me about the A1.

It's a Seat Bocanegra with a ten grand premium stuck on it. :P

P.S. I know the proper Audi fan secret handshake. The one used a generation ago and only known by those who've stood in the dark, rain and freezing fog in Resolfen forest waiting for several pairs of barely distinguishable headlights to go flying by and cover you in gravel, mud and more rain.
