Moschops
The trouble when you're talking to someone on the internet who you think is 14 is how they always seem to turn out to be a 40 odd year old fat bloke with a beard...Anyway, apologies for further diverting from boxerbeat's very good, realistic, unblinkered and informative review. God hark at the keyboard warrior...you done the damage, go play with the traffic on the M6. Apology not accepted.

robbie_n
I've no more intention of ever driving an RS3 as any of you have of driving a Scooby. If you want to swap ejaculation stories over your pride and joy without danger of any invasion from the real world, why don't you all f*ck off to a single make forum where you can all congratulate yourselves and w*nk each other off on buying/ordering/pretending to order/hopelessly wishing you could afford the greatest car in the world ever bar none without fear of any possible intrusion of another point of view. You bunch of vain, blind, German úber fuhrer cockwagon loving f*ckwits. Good vocabulary. I am trying to arrange a test in a wrx sti in the next week or so, as well as sorting the RS3 test drive; I'll leave a comparison on here. Until then, I haven't stereotyped you so maybe you should drop that chip on your shoulder and let us vain, blind, German úber fuhrer cockwagon loving f*ckwits get on with it. garcon magnifique
You see, that's the first time you've mentioned test driving a Subaru. That's all I can ask, even if you don't go there with an open mind. The chances are you'll still prefer the RS3, but at least you'll have had a go in something that is similar performance-wise and almost as practical. It's the truly blinkered fanboys I object to. The ones who will never try anything else and will spout all kinds of crap on here to justify their choice.

I have only ever owned one Audi, a 1986 gt coupe that was 12 years old when I bought it. I'll let you know how the test drive goes.
garcon magnifique
Only because if you have a favourite it can be difficult to be entirely objective when trying out the 'opposition'. I'll be glad to hear your thoughts, and will take them at face value, good or bad. I am more open minded (*) than you might think - although I don't suppose the evidence looks good... my last five cars have been Subarus of various flavours. * - Ok, I'm not exactly an Audi fan, but believe it or not four or five years ago I was. In that four or five years I believe Audi have seriously lost their way.

Garcon just for the record, recent test drives include both Evo 330 with paddle shift and the latest WRX, throw in a Clio 200, which all the car mags reckon is fantastic, I personally thought it was a pile of shite, Fabia VRS, didnt like the engine one bit, Audi s4, engine was okay, biggest disappointment? RS5, that is what I call an overpriced car in a lot of respects, I noted what attracts me to considering the purchase of an RS3, which as I have always stated was on the basis of ultimately a test drive, before deciding to purchase, the same comments apply to all the noted cars that I have test driven in the last few months, I would honestly have gone for a Clio if it was all it was cracked up to be, it wasnt, nowhere near, so everyone else thinks its the bollox, and I dont, does that make me wrong? possibly, but the posts in response to my seemingly "nefarious" list, just seem to miss the point, these are just my thoughts and observations, nothing more, nothing less. The only thing worse than a blinkered fanboy as you put it, is someone who reposts with their own version of being a fanboy.

It not been boring just entertaining reading your inane posts spouting utter nonsence....:Slap: Edited July 17, 2011 by Moschops

Tipex
Lol @ chocolate engined rice burner. Not heard that one before. Of course it doesn't work, as you can't really use one of the two things a car is famed for, I.e. being faultlessly reliable (the other is being very fast) against it, as it just makes you look silly. Anyway, as I've said before, no one has said the RS3 won't be very fast etc etc, just stop trying to justify it with false or wildly incorrect analogies, or the age old (typical of one make forums) " what else could I have bought" when you aren't really interested in anything else and will tailor your requirements to exclude anything else anyone suggests. and we'll stop pulling you up on it. I'd have so much more respect for anyone who just said "I don't care what anyone else thinks, I think the RS3 looks the mutts nuts, and it's fast as f*ck and I just want one because I do." NewNiceMrMe
I think the thread starters review is the only one I've seen so far that merits serious attention. He's clearly not pro-Audi to the point that many on here are, but equally he isn't a BMW-bashing bible carrier from Wolfsburg. I like the review and it does complement some of the magazine reviews that claim the RS3 is a very accomplished A to B all-rounder that will beat the BMW in the daily runner stakes - but then again that has always been the case between RS models and M models, so there should be no real surprise. Where this review is different is that it had a comparison to an S3, an experienced driver who doesn't have to think about his publication having future test cars revoked and he was driving it reasonably normally by the sounds of it. I still think the car looks very bland and I disagree completely with robbie_n's assertion that the car is a bargain. Just like the BMW, it is horrendously overpriced like the rest of their model range at present - but these two cars are brilliant examples of both manufacturers royally taking the piss out of enthusiasts. BUT The latter doesn't matter if it is your money and your joy. There is a price to be paid for all motoring and if paying more than X might deem sensible for a certain car is what gets you smiling - then who gives a feck what anyone else thinks. I buy my cars for me. If I cared what the outside world thought I'd be changing them every 6 months when the new fashion icon or motoring buzz-car came along. I think the review makes the RS3 sound plausible and strong competition - and people who buy the RS or the BMW will probably be very happy. That means both manufacturers have done their jobs well. garcon magnifique
Stop being so fecking reasonable. The OP does kind of answer one pertinent question. Does the RS3 potentially give you enough more than a Sportback S3? For some I'm sure it will - that extra poke must be addictive - for others maybe not. Mook
Right, you bunch of moronic feckwits - pack it in and play nicely. I thank you. I've had too many Audis to mention and I currently own a Subaru and have had one before, so I have no bias towards either. Re sticking a dual clutch gearbox in a Scooby - if you've driven a dual clutch Evo X, you'll know that, despite the fact you can change gear flat out mid-corner and it won't jump or lose traction, they've killed the soul of the car with that box. Re the Clio comment - it's a very capable car - on track. It's not great on the road, but that's not really why you buy a Clio Cup, is it? However, regarding the RS3 - I think it's massively over-priced - but maybe that's just a reflection of what all car manufacturers are doing in the market - charing realistic prices for their top-end toys because the market will pay the rates and they need to recoup some of their money. New GTR, for example, that's one hell of a price hike over the price two years ago, Yen exchange rate aside. It won't depreciate like a stone though - the original RS4 and B7 RS4 are testament to that - as long as they don't make a gazillion of them. Yes, I've test driven one, and the latest Subaru WRX STI saloon (no Impreza name any more) and I wouldn't choose either. My 2p. Now Moschops, Garcon, Ashleywater & co - play along nicely or people will think all this place is is a bitch-fest - which it ain't

ashleywater
Yeah, trouble causers. Just behave. Honestly, some people. See Mr Me, it all goes pear shaped when you start posting, and Mook dosnt even give you so much of a mention, besides which I object to being referred to as a "Moronic Feckwit" it's insulting to "Morons". To be fair Mook, Moschops frustration was at the fact. that a car specific thread, namely RS3, one that a few of us on here had ordered, and put our hard earned down on,was being used as a forum for having a pop, something along the lines of "You Moronic Feckwit 's have blown your cash on a pile of overpriced shite" mode, which is fine as it goes, but all we are trying to do, is to get some source of information on our cars, specifications etc, as Audi s not providing any, yet again this thread has descended into exactly the same state as previous attempts, to do just that, with a load of negative stuff, that is my own 2p on the subject, and for the record I dont recall ever slagging anyone off on this thread or any other. NewNiceMrMe
I sat back and watched you all swinging your handbags at ten paces. Honestly, it was a pretty pathetic attempt at anarchy and all-round sh*t stirring from all of you. You had 4 pages of arguing and not a single person asked for anothers address and threatened to go round and panel them. In the old days Mollox would have intervened by the end of page 2 and we'd have had a poll about who should leave, who should be banned, who was the biggest tw*t of all and why everyone else hated them. Girls, blouses, the lot of you.
