bazza_g
Not so long back I posted this linky about a colleague who purchased a, more than slightly crazy, go-kart that utilised a 50bhp rotary engine.... ....tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm going to give it a blast around Thruxton's karting national circuit - wish me luck! By the end of tomorrow I'll either have a massive grin on my face or be in the local A&E
stooH
ooh, have fun, done the national one there before, full pelt down the back 'straight' but don't forget to BRAKE! before the left right left... I made the slight mistake of not braking quite enough and then took off over one of the curves and technically cut out 2 bends. And that was only on one of their 13bhp jobbies
Calm Chris
Bet you feck your wrists and forearms.
Tipex
Just expect your body to ache a lot the next day, as mentioned, wrists and forearms, but also other parts of your body you didn't know existed! They are great fun, and you'll feel like your doing 200mph!
Luke
Knee pads are a great idea. I did Daytona MK recently and I bashed my knees to feck. May look a bit pratty but I'd wear them without doubt. Was that the guy who was racing with his son? Hope it stays dry.
JonC
Bet you feck your wrists and forearms. Hell yeah. The hard, vibrating steering those things have certainly take it out of the arms. Damn good fun though. Enjoy
bazza_g
Well that was fun! The kart itself is nothing short of staggeringly fast, much quicker than the Vodafone D-Max two stroke 125cc I've driven. Thruxton karting track has a nice layout - the under/over feature is pretty cool. Though to exploit the kart we either needed lower gearing or longer straights, only reaching about two thirds RPM by the end of the straights. Aside from the power the main thing to get used to was the front disc brakes operated by a pull lever under the steering wheel - trying to balance the front and back brakes into a corner was, how shall I put it, novel? Luke
Looks like a lovely bit of kit. The brake lever sounds tricky though. I love karting but hate real skinny guys who overtake me on the straights!
NewNiceMrMe
Bet it rode bumps more comfortably than my car.
Calm Chris
I'm over weight at 64 kg, I'm also that guy you hate in a kart with the same power.
