Tipex
The other half wants to take me away for a couple of nights (not a leap year is it?), but hasn't got a clue where to go. Anyone got any ideas of where would make a nice break, or if there is anything particularly interesting happening next week? Planning to go when I get back from the 18-30 thingy, kids not coming, do don't want tonne surrounded by other peoples which rules out Alton Towers etc. I've tried convincing her we should fly abroad somewhere, and that it'd probably be just as cheap but she doesn't seem up for that. Twinspark
Climb Snowdon, but use one of the lesser known paths. I think we used the Miner and Ranger paths. Challenging, amazing views and a sense of achievement for doing it the 'proper' way.

Chick
we are off to Brittany on the 25th, no kids - just putting bikes in the back of car and have booked a very reasonable b&b then gonna just chill and eat and drink a lot

Calm Chris
Dignitas? I'm sure we could have a wip round. I'd suggest London, cable ride, concert or theatre, Savoy grill, Highgate Cemetry, Parliment Hill, Hyde Park and several 1000's of things to do to amuse. Then again you think London is sh1te
cruiser647
I don't walk up hills, that's what cars were invented for! Was going to recommend the Peak District. So, I'll suggest a canal boat?
Tipex
Then again you think London is sh1te Yep, London would be pretty much last on my list for a short break, but to be fair, most large cities would be really, would want somewhere quiet. Tipex
I think ideally she wants a reasonably priced hotel, somewhere where we are not surrounded by kids, with a couple of decent restaurants and bars, and maybe something to do during the day, between pubs. Twinspark
Wait until 2nd week of September, then you can take your pick of child free places to go in the UK. I'd recommend the Eden Project and the Glendorgal Hotel, on Porth Bay near Newquay - or the Falmouth Hotel if you'd prefer some olde-worlde grand hotel charm. Tipex
Have to go during school holidays unfortunately, due to work commitments, and it being my boys first year at school. It's a right ball ache thinking of somewhere to go to be honest, I don't do UK holidays normally, and I've been to most places already in a previous job, do seeing them from a work perspective means I don't find them as attractive as I might if I'd never been before! Busby
Cotswolds? Lots of lovely hotels dotted around some of the prettiest villages in the country with some nice places to eat too. Heaps of stuff to do - falconry, nice walks, bike riding, etc. If you like the idea then I can give you some recommendations on where to stay/visit
theduisbergkid
North Norfolk is our 'kid free' escape place. Burnham Market is nice, Brancaster beach is beautiful, Holkham Hall is great, loads of interesting places in that area with no 'kiss me quick' or hordes of tracksuited kids. Good pubs and food and no danger of having to exert yourself Google 'em and/or let me know if you need suggestions for places to stay ETA - I'll even lend you my inflatable kayak if you want to paddle off to Scolt head island and see the seals Edited August 17, 2012 by theduisbergkid
