Florida - Orlanda - Disney. Need to Plan

  • 4 weeks later...

Ok, this thread again! We're looking at August/September time now.

Have people who have been for two weeks, stayed in the one location, hotel/house. Did this work out ok from a relaxed point of view. I was originally thinking 7/7 parks/beach or 10/4 parks/beach. Are there areas in the parks that you could just spend relaxing the same as a beach hotel. I'd rather not have to uplift everything to another location if I didn't need to.

I know August/Sept is going to be hot!

Any advise appreciated.

Yes.

We spent whole days at the water parks (included in your 2 week tickets) and then did stuff like SeaWorld.

Didn't bother going to Miami etc for the beach.

DO the daytrip to Kennedy though.

Villas will have pool to chill usually as well.

If you PM me your email address I will forward the same stuff I sent a mate including details of the villa we rented etc +++

As expensive as it was, we do miss it

No worries

As you have seen from this thread there is so much option that it can be incredibly overwhelming.

Pedants like me who like "planning" trips will have fun but even I was started to get somewhat overwhelmed.

Email will include details of some villa options and where to get good price on the tickets (if you have AVIOS points you can buy some with those too).

Flight costs drop a fair bit if you use US Airways with a change rather than the direct flights.

4 days in the parks isn't enough - you'll be running around like a blue arsed fly. I've just done 5 days at DisneyWorld, the 4 main parks (excl the water parks) and just about saw/rode everything we wanted too, I made a plan (time/attraction) and pretty much stuck to it. With your kids being a bit older you'll be wanting to do Universal too as we found DisneyWorld a bit girly/outdated, until they get all the new Star Wars attractions up and running :)

My tip is get in early, before opening time and do the most popular rides. My son did the Stars Tours and Thunder Mountain 3 times in a row whilst it was 10min wait time, by noon the waits were hitting 2 hours.

Best way to see the fireworks ... https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/contemporary-resort/pirates-and-pals-fireworks-voyage/

I rented an large apartment and car.

If you have a Disney trip planned for this year, you may want to really start looking at tickets now as February is when they increased ticket prices last year, so it is entirely possible that Disney tickets will get more expensive soon.

Ill look to see if my guide is still upto date.

I'd always advise to limit park time, if you try to do whole days it'll spoil it for you because you end up rushing around, tired and grumpy.

My kids both prefer Universal now, that changed on the last trip as Disney had always been favourite, but my daughter especially loves the Hulk ride in Universal.

Both times last year I split the trip between hotels, this year I'll have a villa again.

The Hulk ride is my favourite too - awesome fun.

Followed by Spiderman which I thought was cool.

Universal - cool rides.

Disney - cool setting

Remember those "crazy frog" type up/down rides? Well my daughter loved them so went on the Haunted Hotel with me. She has still never forgiven me (she was 11 at the time)

I stayed at The Georgian Hotel, quirky and old (didn't have any choice as work was paying) but did the job and was very good positioning.  Loved the view across to Santa Monica Pier and the miles of beach .... there was a good seafood restaurant on the pier and a few blocks away was a good old "english" pub run by a british couple, possibly even called The Queen Vic!    Also stayed downtown Hollywood and Beverley Hills ... and went to a fabulous nightclub on a skyscraper roof (I later saw it in a film called Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang), complete with swimming pool, bed pods and all the staff dressed like something out of Thunderbirds, red hair and blue dresses and hats +++
