Same old Top Gear, predictable, formulaic, puerile, I funking love it!

Why do people still wonder how they manage to wreck seemingly perfect cars? It's been common knowledge for ever that they are either pre-production development models, or press demonstrators, all of which would otherwise be bound for the crusher, why not do something silly!

Not eatched it yet. But remember Racing Legends, the delayed Colin McRae episode with Chris Hoy is on at 10pm BBC2

All in all it's been (about to be) an excellent night of TV on BBC2 or BBC HD, Top Gear, then Wonders of Life which I'm really enjoying, and looks spectacular in HD, followed by Racing Legends!

Am i alone in wondering why they would wreck a 150K Bentley taking it around a rally stage. ?

Let alone Bentley allowing it.

Yes.

But then I'm very much from the school of enthusiasts that believes cars should be used and abused, not polished and looked at.

Besides, they hardly wrecked it. Bit of pebble dashing underneath (which they'd probably protected anyway).

I do find it intensely amusing how many people seem to watch Top Gear purely so they can complain about it on the internet afterwards.

Well never having watched Homeland I didn't know who Damien Lewis was... But I bet he had a huge amount of fun in the snow and slush.

Chris Harris did a better review of the Huyara, but the Bentley segment was great!! Now I know what to save up for when I go shopping for an AWD.

Top Gear is seen by something stupid like 500 million people across the globe. So from PR point of view £50k of damage to a Bentley is small change given the exposure.

THE luxury barge doing 145mph over a official rally section and finishing, not comming last and still being in (more or less) one piece send out a nice publicity message (our cars are well built, realisable and the 4 wd system works).

Did no one read the comment I made about them being ex press demo/development cars destined for the crusher?

Same with the cars they used to play football with, and no doubt the rugby we've seen clips of in this series.

It doesn't matter if they damage them, they are being destroyed anyway.
